The Audi RS4 takes on the RS3 Sedan in a drag race, and this is the result

We usually look for comparisons between similar models from different brands, but we can also find tough rivals within the same brand. The Audi RS4 is presented as one of the most effective sports cars from the German firm, but within its own family it faces a tough rival, the RS3 Sedan. The Carwow guys have decided to put both models through their paces with the four rings in a drag race and find out which of the two is faster, more effective and sportier.

Without a doubt, this is a very close comparison, since both vehicles have excellent tuning that makes them among the fastest in their segment, but even so Audi wanted to mark clear differences between the RS4 and the RS3. Both German models are capable of delivering impressive performance but, even so, we can see that one of the two has the upper hand.

On the one hand, we have the Audi RS3 Sedan, the German firm’s bet on a versatile yet sporty vehicle. This model boasts impressive performance, which makes it one of the fastest in its segment regardless of its body style. At the same time, the RS4 comes as one of the family cars par excellence, where its efficiency and comfort are two characteristics worth admiring.

Aesthetically, we find two vehicles that draw on sportiness as a source of inspiration, but that have different features from each other. The RS4 adopts a more modern and up-to-date design language, where Audi has taken the opportunity to give it touches of fresh air. On the other hand, the current-generation Audi RS3 is in the final stretch of its life, since the four-ring firm is already developing its successor, yet it still shows a timeless design that catches the eye everywhere.

However, where we really find what matters is under the hood of these two versatile sports cars. If we dig into the guts of the Audi RS4, we find a supercharged 2.9-litre V6 engine capable of generating a whopping 450 CV of power and 600 Nm of torque. These figures allow the German estate to reach 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, but the Audi RS3 has not wanted to make things easy for its bigger brother.

Inside the Audi RS3 Sedan we find a 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder engine that delivers 400 CV of power and 480 Nm of torque. This high level of performance allows the more radical A3 to stop the clock at an impressive 3.9 seconds when it reaches 100 km/h. However, performance cannot be fully demonstrated on paper, and that is why both models have gone head to head on the tarmac.

In a drag race carried out by Carwow, the Audi RS4 and the RS3 have gone head to head to find out which of the two takes the lead. This family showdown ended as we expected: with the bigger brother beating the smaller one, but by a very small margin. The RS4 managed to complete the quarter mile in just 12.1 seconds, while the RS3 did it in an impressive 12.2 seconds. In this way, we can see the effectiveness of the models carrying the RS badge from Audi, where every one of them rises with each new generation.
