The BMW Serie 1 is saved from cancellation, and the new generation is expected in 2028
Although there are rumours about the disappearance of this compact model, statements from a BMW executive seem to confirm that it will continue to be part of the line-up.

The small compact cars seem doomed to disappear. However, although there are brands such as Mercedes that are considering removing the smallest vehicles from the market, there are others that believe this type of car should remain available for a very specific type of user. BMW was willing to sacrifice the practical Serie 1, but it seems it has changed its mind.
The entry-level model in the BMW range has undergone a generational redesign that has been somewhat controversial, with the introduction of front-wheel drive and other details that do not seem to have pleased fans of the brand very much. Even so, it has continued to enjoy the trust of many of them and it is a good way to access a BMW at a reasonable price.

BMW’s intention is to offer customers at every level a car that can meet their needs, from the most basic BMW Serie 1 up to the most luxurious saloon possible. For that reason, the brand’s CEO gave an interview to an Italian media outlet and confirmed its intention to continue offering the entire current range.
That does not mean the BMW Serie 1 will continue exactly as we know it so far, as it could shift towards electric mobility. BMW intends to use the new platform Neue Klasse, designed for electric vehicles, so this would not surprise us. That said, the current generation of the Serie 1 is halfway through its commercial life. This means it will soon receive an update and will adopt new technologies to equip it with better features.
This means that the hypothetical new generation of the BMW Serie 1 would not arrive until 2028, so we will still have quite a wait before we see it. It would not be ready until late 2027 or early 2028, with all the changes the brand proposes.
That said, an official confirmation is still lacking on the matter, so we will have to wait a while longer for the continued existence of this model, conceived as the entry level of the range, to be confirmed.
