The first electric model of the new Jaguar will reach the market in 2026

Jaguar has changed its schedule and now plans to launch its first new-generation electric model in 2026, instead of doing so at the end of 2025 as originally planned. The British brand intends to prioritise the North American market with the debut of this new vehicle, despite the challenges this decision entails due to the tariffs it will have to face, since Jaguar does not have any production plant in the United States.

In an interview given to an American outlet, Rawdon Glover, the current Chief Executive of Jaguar, confirmed that the presentation of this new model will take place next year, with the aim of the first deliveries happening shortly afterwards. Jaguar Land Rover is adopting a somewhat more cautious strategy regarding the launch of the group’s new models. This statement is based not only on the delay in the launch of the new Jaguar, but also on that of the Range Rover Electric announced last summer.

As we already knew, the design of the new Jaguar will follow the bold line of the Type 00 concept, presented in December 2024, although it will not be an exact replica. The head of Jaguar defends this disruptive look of the vehicle, which has won as many supporters as detractors, asserting that great designs generate divided opinions, just as happens with fashion or architecture. He also states that the company has a very clear idea of what the new Jaguar of the 21st century should be, and that is why they will remain firm in their convictions. He then also asks the public for a vote of confidence, since in his opinion images of the vehicle on a screen do not reveal its true proportions and the final impression it creates.

The first Jaguar model we will see in 2026 will be a four-door GT, sporty and capable of delivering outstanding performance, surpassing any previous model from the brand. For now, the British manufacturer has not revealed concrete details about its specifications, but what we do know is that it will be based on the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) platform and will offer up to 770 km of WLTP range.

The head of Jaguar choosing an American outlet for this interview is no coincidence, since the United States has long been its main market and where it has achieved its greatest successes, which the company hopes to repeat in the future.
