The fully electric version of the Staria people mover from Hyundai will arrive in Europe before summer

Just as some rumours had already suggested, Hyundai has used the Brussels Motor Show to officially unveil the fully electric version of its Staria people mover. This new addition to the manufacturer’s wide range of electric models will reach the European and South Korean markets during the first half of 2026, although no specific date has been confirmed yet.

Its production, meanwhile, will take place at the South Korean Ulsan plant alongside other Hyundai electric models. From there it will be exported to Europe for sale in our market.

Since its launch in 2021, the Staria has stood out for its futuristic design, which would fit perfectly into any science-fiction film. In Europe this people mover has only been available with hybrid or petrol engines, to which this new all-electric version is now added.

What does this new Hyundai people mover offer?

The new electric Staria will initially be available in 7- or 9-seat configurations, equipped with an 84 kWh battery pack already known from other models of the South Korean manufacturer based on the E-GMP platform, such as the IONIQ 5. Hyundai promises a WLTP range of 400 km on a single charge. The 800V architecture of this model also allows it, according to the manufacturer, to reach 80 percent battery charge from 10 percent in just 20 minutes. It additionally supports AC charging at 11 kW, V2L bidirectional charging, and its charging port is located at the front to make the process easier.

As for its technical specifications, it is worth highlighting its single 160 kW electric motor integrated into the front axle, thanks to which it can reach an electronically limited top speed of 184 km/h. Not bad for a people mover. Hyundai also highlights its capacity to tow a trailer of up to 2 tonnes.

The main appeal of the new Staria, however, lies in its interior. Thanks to Hyundai’s “Inside-Out” design philosophy, the cabin of this people mover turns into a genuine rolling lounge, thanks to its completely flat floor, its generous dimensions and the intelligent arrangement of its seats to maximise comfort and freedom of movement for the occupants.

Luggage space is also very generous, with up to 435 litres of boot space behind the third row of seats in the 7-seat version, and 1,303 litres in the 9-seat version. The new electric Staria keeps the two wide sliding side doors of the other versions, generous windows and a low waistline that provides plenty of light.
