The Kia K900 is shown in the form of concept designs to build anticipation

This new model aims to reclaim the place it held until recently, and these images give us a first look at its look ahead of the New York Auto Show

We already knew the Kia K900 was about to get a rather important relaunch, looking to win back the ground it lost in the US market some time ago, and it clearly wants to do it in a big way. So it comes as no surprise that the Korean brand has wanted to give this saloon a fresh image. We haven’t been able to see it in the flesh yet, but a series of concept images reach us that show us the car’s design and interior.

The car’s design came out of a collaboration between the brand’s headquarters in Korea and the Kia studio in Irvine, California. Kia defines the style followed by the new Kia K900 as “a peaceful retreat.” This is reflected in how they conceived the interior, pursuing a minimalist style and using materials that feel soft to the touch, such as wood, metal elements and leather in several areas.

To achieve a more eye-catching look, many controls have been removed, leaving the surface almost clean of them. Many of these have moved to the 12-inch touchscreen, alongside a digital instrument cluster that houses the speed and rev counter readings, as well as other information needed to drive the car. In addition, the Kia K900 features a lighting system with HMI technology. It has sensors that detect when the driver’s hand approaches a switch and illuminate it. The interior lighting is quite special, since the new Kia K900 has a system with 64 colours and 7 themes to choose from. This creates a very comfortable ambience, tailored to each driver.

As far as the exterior goes, this is a car that aims to share space with more familiar models, especially in the BMW and Mercedes segments, but with the distinctive look that Kia models have. The wheels have been designed to create that striking image we see in the concept drawings, which makes us eager to see the complete model in person and in the flesh.

The base of this model is the platform of the Kia Stinger, and it is expected to feature V6 and V8 engines, although the brand is keeping the equipment details of this new version of the car under wraps. What we do know is that the new Kia K900, a flagship saloon for the brand, will reach international markets at some point in the second half of the year. What is certain is that we will be able to see it officially at the New York Auto Show.
