The Lada 4x4 Vision Concept arrives, a Russian off-roader that has nothing to do with the past

The Lada 4×4 Vision Concept is an updated version of the Russian off-roader and previews the technology and design that the next Lada Niva 4×4 could have

Lada 4x4 Vision Concept

I remember a good friend who had a Lada. He was delighted with the performance of this model, which had little in common with the other off-roaders of that era. It already looked outdated, weak and not very functional. But to him it seemed a robust car, and he enjoyed taking it over terrain that was not easy to drive on. And the Lada responded wonderfully. Now, the Lada has returned, and it has nothing to do with that old off-roader from the communist era in Russia.

This off-roader keeps evolving, and the Russian manufacturer wants it to become one of the best-known all-terrain vehicles on the global market. The Lada 4×4 Vision Concept goes one step beyond the traditional model and brings all the innovations Lada has been working on over the last few years. At first glance, it looks more like a beefier Dacia Duster, although it has some differences that make it clear it is a rugged Russian car.

The front end shows the X that is part of the brand and identifies it as part of its lineup. In addition, the lower protections and the 21-inch alloy wheels set a distinctive and quite attractive style. The interior has also aimed to be original, and to that end the designers worked on a cabin with orange and grey details and touches of aluminium.

The infotainment system is centred and flanked by two air vents. It also features dual-zone climate control, a digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.

It measures 4.2 metres in length and has a high ground clearance. As for the transmission, it is fitted with an automatic gearbox with short and long ratios, so it can work the way an off-road vehicle should. As for the engine, we know nothing, but it has been said that many of the innovations this prototype introduces will reach the next generation of the Lada Niva 4×4. We will see how the new model turns out and what it is capable of.
