The Nevo E07 SUV is now on sale in the Chinese market

Nevo, one of the brands of the Chinese automotive giant Changang, has just started selling its new E07 model in China, available both as a fully electric version and with a range extender (EREV). The E07 stands out as a versatile vehicle, capable of transforming into an SUV or a pickup depending on the owner’s needs, with just the press of a button.

With the E07, Nevo aims to capture a very specific segment of the Chinese market, targeting mainly private customers who are interested in an electric vehicle with the versatility of a pickup. In China, pickups are not classified as passenger cars but as light commercial vehicles, which means facing significant restrictions compared, for example, with SUVs.

To get around these restrictions, the E07 is officially sold as an SUV, with all the advantages that entails. In practice, however, this model can be used as a pickup thanks to its dual design with a large open cargo area. Although, with a payload of only 300 kg, it cannot compete head-to-head with a conventional pickup.

One version for every type of customer

The E07 is available in three fully electric versions. The entry-level version has a rear-axle motor with 165 kW of power; the mid-range version also has a single motor but with 252 kW; while the top-of-the-range version adds an additional front-axle motor of 188 kW, giving it all-wheel drive, with a combined output of 440 kW.

Nevo also offers two different battery packs with the E07. The smaller one, with 70.5 kWh, is lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and offers a CLTC range of around 551 km. The larger-capacity pack is an NMC unit of 90 kWh, and allows around 651 km to be covered on a single charge, also under the CLTC homologation cycle.

On the other hand, the three versions available with a range extender feature a 231 kW electric motor on the rear axle, with the option of adding a second motor of 131 kW on the front axle. In all of them, a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 110 kW of power extends the range up to 1,130 km, with 230 km in fully electric mode.

Plenty of space for five occupants and additional cargo

In terms of dimensions, it is a fairly large vehicle at 5.05 metres long, 2 metres wide and 1.64 metres high. It therefore has more than enough room to seat five. Inside, there is also a generous 15.4-inch central screen, although it has no instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, which has been replaced by a 28.8-inch HUD.

Prices for the fully electric E07 start at 199,900 yuan for the entry-level Air version. At the current exchange rate, that is roughly 25,900 euros. The top-of-the-range version, called Ultra, costs 319,900 yuan, or about 41,500 euros at the current rate. The EREV versions with range extender, meanwhile, are available from 209,900 yuan (27,220 euros), although in this case there is no Air version and the range starts with the Pro version.
