The BMW 8 Series family is gradually being completed. After being presented in its three available body styles, Coupe, Gran Coupe and Cabrio, it was the turn of its M8 performance variants with Coupe and Cabrio body styles, but the circle finally closes with the arrival of the new M8 Gran Coupe and its Competition version. The BMW M8 Gran Coupe thus becomes a four-door saloon with coupé-like features, comfortable and technological, but eager to devour the competition on any circuit placed in front of it.

The BMW M8 Gran Coupe presents itself as a vehicle of large dimensions; in fact it has a wheelbase 200 mm longer compared with its Coupe and Cabrio siblings, which undoubtedly helps reinforce a sportier image, accompanied by the aesthetic changes carried out by the M division. These changes begin with a more aggressive front end thanks to the new bumper, which features larger air intakes and aerodynamic and decorative elements in colours different from the bodywork, together with adaptive LED headlights with laser light fitted as standard.

Moving to the side, we see large gills that may include decorative carbon-fibre elements, aerodynamic door mirrors with a specific design in a different colour from the bodywork, and a roof made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic that undoubtedly creates a perfect contrast. At the rear there are also new bumpers that include a diffuser, in which we will see the double exhaust outlet on each side with a size of 100 mm, which can deliver a more discreet or a wilder sound depending on the selected mode. It should be said that there will be a First Edition limited edition of 400 units, which will include exclusive design elements, such as Aurora Diamond Green metallic paint with Gold Bronze details from BMW Individual.

But if there is one thing the BMW M8 Gran Coupe stands out for, it is the luxury, technology and quality of materials that we find as soon as we open its doors, which blend with the details and elements intended to give it greater sportiness. In this way we find a digital instrument cluster consisting of a 12.3-inch display with specific, customisable graphics, accompanied by a 10.25-inch display in the centre console for the infotainment system and the specific M functions.

To this must be added other systems and features that the BMW M8 Gran Coupe will have as standard, such as the Head-Up Display to keep the most important information within sight, the package of assistants and driving aids grouped under the BMW Driving Assistant, parking assistant BMW and connectivity included in the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with navigation system and intelligent personal assistant BMW.

Under the bonnet of the BMW M8 Gran Coupe we find the already well-known 4,400 cc V8 engine, which delivers 600 CV together with 750 Nm of torque, resulting in acceleration that takes your breath away, from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. In the M8 Gran Coupe Competition version the engine is optimised to increase its power up to 625 CV, enabling it to reach 100 km/h from standstill in 3.2 seconds. On both models there is an M Steptronic eight-speed gearbox with Drivelogic, which uses the intelligent M xDrive all-wheel-drive system with an active M differential on the rear axle to send power preferentially to the rear wheels, although with a single touch you can switch between a 4×4 mode and one exclusively for rear-wheel drive.

For the time being, the prices that the BMW M8 Gran Coupe and Competition will have on the Spanish market are unknown, only that their presentation will take place next month during the Los Angeles Auto Show and that sales will begin next spring.
