The new Cayenne is ready: it has successfully passed the demanding endurance tests carried out by Porsche
The new Cayenne has successfully completed the demanding test programme that Porsche put it through under all kinds of conditions.

The third generation of the Porsche Cayenne is being unveiled next week, having passed all the demanding tests under every kind of condition to which the sports brand’s engineers subjected it on roads and tracks around the world. Rigorous verification and checking procedures of its capabilities and all kinds of trials under real conditions.
From 45° below zero reached on the icy Arctic roads to more than 50° Celsius endured under the desert sun, the new Cayenne covered more than 4.4 million kilometres during this process to verify that both the new chassis and the new propulsion system that the vehicle features in this third generation meet the most extreme demands to perfection.

A process that began from the very start of its development in 2014, when the car was known only as E3, the internal project code for the new Cayenne at Porsche. It started with the first checks carried out on its base and platform and was recently completed with the final tests on the first prototypes and pre-series units of the new Cayenne.
The engineers at Porsche created an elaborate testing and trial process throughout the development phase of the new Cayenne to verify the correct fit and operation of each and every new component used in its creation. From the simplest screw to the sophisticated new displays and control systems of the new Premium SUV. Tests included simulations in the brand’s laboratories in Stuttgart, as well as real-world driving on roads and tracks of all kinds around the world, where not only the actual performance of each part is checked but also its harmonisation with the car’s other components is certified.
Endurance tests simulating particularly harsh conditions were carried out both at Porsche’s Technical Centre in Stuttgart and on urban routes, regional roads and motorways. During different phases of development, the new Cayenne was subjected to various tests at the German circuits of Hockenheim, the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring and the high-speed test track at Nardò in Italy.

All systems and materials were subjected to temperatures and extreme conditions of cold and heat, under water, mud and snow, or sun, sand and dust, both in Porsche’s laboratories and in different parts of the world. From more than 50° endured under the desert sun in Dubai and the dusty slopes of Death Valley in the USA, to nearly 45° below zero experienced during the tests on ice and snow in Alaska. Under conditions of particular humidity, from the continuous start-and-stop tests of the vehicle carried out in Chinese cities with extreme humidity, to the demanding road tests on different stretches in Sweden, Finland and Spain.
During its development, the new Cayenne has visited all five continents and undergone tests in the most extreme conditions on each of them, both off-road and on the road, and it is now ready to be unveiled next week, ahead of its official presentation at the Frankfurt Motor Show in mid-September.
