The new Jaguar XF will go on sale in 2015

The new XE has become the undisputed star of 2014 for Jaguar. The saloon that reintroduces the British brand into the D-segment has built up enormous anticipation dating back many months before its official debut at the Paris Motor Show.

In order to capitalise on the attention that Jaguar has sparked among the public, internal company sources have confirmed to Autocar that the next generation of the XF will enter the spotlight just a few months into 2015. Specifically, the new model will be unveiled in April at the New York Motor Show, just as the first XE units begin to be delivered to European customers.

As expected, the new XF will adopt many of the innovations introduced on the XE: the modular iQ[Al] aluminium architecture (which will allow it to shed between 50 and 100 kg), the Ingenium engines, the InControl Apps platform, and so on.

In terms of design, the next model’s body will also draw inspiration from the proportions and a silhouette even closer to that of a coupé, similar to the XE. Another shared trait will be the front grille, since Jaguar wants its most recent models to be instantly recognisable through features like this one.

The XF is expected to grow slightly in length, so that the rear seats gain space and the boot gains a little more volume. Few surprises are anticipated in the cabin, as the XF will inherit the layout of the XE’s elements.

According to information Autocar has obtained from those same sources, the Sportbrake estate, a year younger than the four-door update, will remain in the range until at least two years from now. The high-performance variants XFR and XFR-S, key to Jaguar’s flagship model line-up, will certainly be renewed.
