The new Porsche Panamera sets a record at the Nürburgring
With a time of 7:29.81, the new Porsche Panamera sets a new Nürburgring record among saloons in its class ahead of its world premiere.

A Porsche is a Porsche, whether we’re talking about an SUV like the Cayenne or the Macan, an electric vehicle like the Taycan… or a large saloon like the Porsche Panamera.
This is not marketing, it is reality. Just drive any of the German brand’s models to see that they keep the essence Porsche is expected to have: sportiness. Although the litmus test of the demanding Nordschleife circuit at Nürburgring is always a good calling card.

At Porsche they know this, and they repeatedly use the lap times their models are capable of achieving as a benchmark. The latest to undergo this test is the new Porsche Panamera, which will be presented shortly.
Under 7:30 minutes at the Nürburgring: saloon or sports car?
And there is the unappealable judge, which is always the stopwatch. A production unit of the new Panamera, with only light camouflage, has set a new record among large saloons, with a time of 7:29.81 minutes over the 20.832 km circuit.
The Porsche test driver, Lars Kern, was in charge of driving the Panamera. After breaking the record, certified by a notary, Kern highlighted the new tuning of the electromechanical anti-roll system of the body, as well as the grip of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, in a version developed specifically for the new Panamera, which will be offered as an option.

“For this reason, at Schwedenkreuz I achieved a cornering speed that I would not have thought possible with the Panamera,” said Lars Kern, who set the fastest lap on 24 July at 13:49, with an outside temperature of 22 degrees and 34 degrees on the asphalt. Want to see it on video?

For reference, this time represents an improvement of about 13 seconds over the time Lars Kern himself set earlier, in this case behind the wheel of the 2016 Panamera Turbo with 550 CV. The time set at the Nürburgring by the Porsche Taycan is also a good comparison. Can you guess which is faster, the Taycan or the Panamera? Don’t leave it in doubt, here you can see it.
