The new Toyota Supra will make its presence felt in competition in 2020, aiming to shake up its rivals
Toyota and its new Supra will also venture into the world of motorsport, a sector in which the Japanese sports car will debut in 2020, replacing the Lexus LC

The world of motorsport is closely linked to the automotive industry, since innovations from one are reflected in the other. We can see this illustrated in the imminent arrival of the new production Toyota Supra, an event that has led to the appearance of the racing version of the Japanese sports car. It is true that the brand has been releasing various teasers for weeks to hint at its iconic sports car, but this version focused exclusively on competition could give us important clues about the final look of the Supra.
Toyota has announced that the racing Supra will debut in 2020, by which time the production model will already be on sale. In this way, the Japanese brand will replace the Lexus LC competing in the SUPER GT GT500 until now, making way for the Toyota Supra prepared by Toyota Gazoo Racing with the aim of offering a package ready to meet the relevant regulations.
It will be during the 2020 season that the new Supra takes over from the Lexus LC, a model that has managed to claim numerous victories. Thanks to meticulous work by the Toyota engineering team, it has been possible to create a worthy successor to the Supra, a model that incorporates important innovations that we will gradually see reflected in production sports cars.
A clear sense of nostalgia
When we think of a Toyota sports car, the Supra undoubtedly comes to mind, a model that has managed to mark a before and after in automotive history. Today, the Japanese brand has wanted to revive the feeling its flagship sports car once inspired with this latest generation, an effect it has also sought to create through the racing version.

It was in Japan that the Toyota Supra competed for twelve years in the All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC), now known as Super GT, a competition in which it managed to become champion on as many as four occasions. Now, 17 years after the last Supra bid us farewell, the brand has decided to return to the asphalt of the world’s most demanding circuits to once again bring to life that passion for this iconic model.
On January 14th with the production Supra
On the 14th of this month, Toyota will unveil to the world the production version of the new Supra, a model that has been generating excitement since the first test mules. Having seen it running at Goodwood, heard its distinctive symphony and having been part of more than one teaser, it has become one of the most anticipated models of this year 2019.

In this way, Toyota will not only bring back a legend, but will also enter fully into the sports car segment with more force and bite than ever, making this fierce battle in the segment even more intense with the presence of the new Supra.
