The Peugeot 3008 goes official and becomes a crossover

We had been waiting for it for a while, and Peugeot has finally shown us its new model, the Peugeot 3008. It is surprising that the French brand continues to use the same name, since the concept of the 3008, which is still on sale, is very different from the one they have just presented. It abandons MPV shapes and becomes a fully-fledged SUV-C crossover.
The design is spectacular. Peugeot made it clear several years ago that it knew how to do things very well and to win over its public through the eyes, starting a new design language with the Peugeot 308 and maintaining it across all the models it has since launched without any sign of fatigue, easily recognisable as each new vehicle from the brand. In fact, this new SUV-style 3008 uses the same platform as the brand’s compact model, the EMP2.
With an appearance that will please (and greatly) customers, the Peugeot 3008 presents itself as an aggressive, robust car, with very pronounced lines and “off-road” protection visible on all four sides. It also offers a technological and modern image, which on the outside is mainly represented by the striking light units, both front and rear, and by the creatively designed wheels.

The Peugeot 3008 is the first to debut the second generation of the i-Cockpit. Inside we find a major novelty: the second generation of the Peugeot i-Cockpit. As we can see in the image, it keeps the main idea of a very visible instrument cluster above a compact steering wheel. Now, that instrument cluster with two large dials can even be fully digital, with a screen of no less than 12.3 inches in colour and high definition with numerous configurations.
For its part, Peugeot says the steering wheel is even more compact, also losing its lower rim and featuring a flattened bottom to leave more room for our legs.
In the centre console there is a new screen, although this time it is touch-operated and measures 8 inches. Through it you control the entire navigation, connectivity and application system, some car settings and the audio equipment which, by the way, is signed by Focal.
Peugeot has used a “piano key” design, similar to those used in military aviation, for the few buttons it integrates into the centre console. The gear lever has a design never seen before in the lion brand and integrates perfectly, through its design, with the rest of the buttons. Just in front of it we see the rotary dial for the “Grip Control” with its five driving modes, and the buttons for hill descent control and vehicle start.
As for the
boot, this new SUV from the French multinational offers 520 litres, while with the rear seats folded the figure rises to 1,580 litres.
Regarding the mechanical side, the new Peugeot 3008 will come with petrol and diesel versions. In petrol it will be available with the three-cylinder 1.2 PureTech engine producing 130 horsepower (available with manual and automatic gearbox) and the 1.6 THP with 165 (automatic gearbox). The diesel family consists of the 1.6 BlueHDi with 100 horsepower (manual), the same 1.6 BlueHDi but with 120 horsepower (manual and automatic gearbox), and a two-litre BlueHDi available with 150 (manual) and 180 horsepower (automatic).
It arrives with a long list of driving assistants. Speaking of driving assistants, the new Peugeot 3008 comes with a large list of available features, among which we can highlight automatic braking, lane-keeping assist, drowsiness detection, adaptive lights, road sign recognition, adaptive cruise control that can even bring the vehicle to a complete stop, and a 360-degree reversing camera, to name just a few.
It is important to highlight that the use of light materials of very high and ultra-high strength, together with the development on the EMP2 platform, has allowed an average saving of 100 kilos compared with the current Peugeot 3008.
