The Peugeot 308 comes equipped with the 2020 Generation engines and the EAT8 gearbox
The Peugeot 308 features three new engines, one petrol and two diesel units, one of which is paired with the new EAT8 gearbox, which improves performance

Dealerships of Peugeot in Spain are welcoming the new engine range fitted to the Peugeot 308 as it gets updated ahead of the arrival of 2018. Among them, the PureTech 130 and BlueHDI 130 engines stand out, along with the BlueHDi 180 S&S unit, which is paired with the EAT8 automatic gearbox. Three engines join the model’s line-up in our country, aiming to increase comfort behind the wheel and boost the performance of these three new units.
Performance has been improved by cutting fuel consumption by 4% compared with the PureTech 130 S&S Euro 6B, thanks to design changes that enhance how the engine works. Emissions have also been reduced through treatment in both the engine and the exhaust. The petrol particulate filtration system includes a petrol particulate filter that manages to eliminate 75% of them. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox that improves the model’s performance.

Turning to diesel, the BlueHDI 130 S&S engine is fitted to the Peugeot 308 for the first time. It was digitally designed, and its components draw on around 200 new patents filed by the PSA Group, so this is a completely new unit. The engine’s performance nearly matches that of a 2.0-litre engine and delivers about 10 CV more than the BlueHDI 120 S&S. It improves on the previous engine thanks to a smaller displacement, a new high-efficiency intercooler and an unprecedented combustion system, based on the one fitted to the Peugeot 908, which triumphed at Le Mans.
The BlueHDI 180 S&S engine will be fitted to the Peugeot 308 GT, where it will be paired with the new EAT8 gearbox, developed together with the Japanese company Aisin. The ease of use of this gearbox has been enhanced, with better torque transfer optimisation between the engine and the gearbox. In addition, the flexible torque converter ensures comfort when pulling away and parking. The Shift and Park by Wire control is an electric, ergonomic lever that is very simple to use. The steering wheel carries paddles that allow manual gear changes without losing the automatic function.
