Ibiza SEAT Compact Range / versions
The SEAT Ibiza now comes with the 1.0 TGI engine running on Natural Gas and Petrol
In addition to the benefits of using CNG as an alternative fuel to petrol, the Ibiza 1.0 TGI will also qualify for the DGT’s ECO environmental label

Ever since the new update to the SEAT Ibiza was launched, it still lacked one more engine to complete the range. Unfortunately, that engine will not be the one corresponding to the Cupra version, because the Spanish brand will leave the FR as the most powerful option in the Ibiza range, while the León will be the one to get the Cupra version. The engine the SEAT Ibiza was missing to complete the line-up is, on the other hand, the most economical and environmentally friendly option: I am referring to the TGI engine.
The TGI engine is the perfect choice for getting around large cities, since with an autumn that is proving just as dry as the summer, pollution-related restrictions look set to remain and become increasingly common. In this respect, its main advantage is that it will qualify for the DGT’s ECO label, so besides being able to drive in restricted zones, its owners will also enjoy tax benefits that will mean considerable savings.

But that’s not all: when it comes to filling up at the petrol station, our wallets will also be grateful. The SEAT Ibiza with the 1.0 TGI engine is homologated at a consumption of 3.3 kg/100 km, which translates into a cost of €2.81 to cover 100 km, a figure that contrasts quite sharply with the €6.46 per 100 km required by the 95 CV 1.0 TSI petrol engine.
The main technical features of the SEAT Ibiza 1.0 TGI engine are that it delivers 90 CV of power and a maximum torque of 160 Nm, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and Start&Stop system. It also offers a range of 1,320 kilometres thanks to the ability to run on petrol or CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) mode. The engine will always draw on the 13 kg CNG tank as its main fuel source, switching to the 40-litre petrol tank only when the CNG runs out, with the changeover taking place automatically and without the driver noticing.

It should be noted that the SEAT Ibiza TGI will be fully available across all trim levels, namely the Reference, Reference Plus TGI, Style, Xcellence, FR and FR EcoPlus. This is undoubtedly a great move by SEAT, as it allows future owners to choose the trim that suits them and benefit from the standard equipment offered at each level.
If you are considering the SEAT Ibiza TGI as a perfectly valid option, you should know that you can already place your order at SEAT dealerships, with the starting prices I detail below. Before anything else, I should point out that if you meet a series of requirements you can lower the price even further than the figures I’m about to give, starting from €10,910.
