The Shelby GT350 returns to dazzle the American market

Shelby will launch two variants of the GT350, with powerful engines and all the presence required of an imposing limited-edition American muscle car.

Muscle cars are a tradition in the United States and, although they are going through hard times and there are fewer and fewer models, some remain on the scene offering their power and their image to drivers who demand more. The Shelby GT350 and the Shelby GT350R mark the return of these two models, which aim to offer more power and a striking, powerful image in the American market with the presentation of these two variants.

Its exterior look conveys all the power and road presence needed for a muscle car to make its mark when it hits the asphalt. Sixty years have passed since the first Shelby GT350 was unveiled, and the model we see today keeps the spirit of that car, but brings it fully into the 21st century.

From a technical standpoint, the Shelby GT350 brings new features. Adjustable suspension, newly designed anti-roll bars and an exhaust signed by Borla set it apart from previous versions and provide greater efficiency. The 20-inch wheels are fitted with high-performance tyres so the experience is as intense as it deserves to be.

At the front, a low-profile aluminium hood and a three-piece front splitter stand out, which, together with a very aggressive grille and a subtle Shelby badge, create an unmistakable style. At the rear there is a duck-tail spoiler, and the bodywork features the stripes that identify the model.

As an option, you can choose tinted windows and an additional spoiler, along with a package of carbon-fibre parts. Inside, we find leather-upholstered seats with the Shelby emblem embroidered on them. The emblem also appears on the floor mats, on plaques on the door sills, and a plaque with the serial number on the dashboard. If the manual gearbox is chosen, buyers will enjoy a ball-topped gear lever.

Lifting the hood, buyers will find a 5.0-litre V8 engine producing 480 CV. But there is another option, as it is also available with a 3-litre Whiple turbo, which raises the power to 810 CV. Whichever engine is chosen, it can be paired with an automatic or manual gearbox, the latter offering a shorter gear throw.

As for the number of cars to be built in these two variants, the brand says that only 526 units will be sold, although not all of them will be destined for the American market. Some will reach international markets, although it is not yet known how many will leave the United States. The price of the turbo version will start at $109,999.
