The Tesla Model 3 Novitec proves that tuning is for electric cars too

Electric cars can also make a good base for a performance upgrade, as demonstrated by the Tesla Model 3 Novitec.

The automotive sector is advancing by leaps and bounds towards electric cars, so all the derivatives, including the aftersales services, have to start adapting. Novitec is a company specialised in modifying some of the most exclusive vehicles, so they are used to working with Ferrari, Lamborghini and even with the brutal McLaren 720S to make it even more radical. However, their latest creation stands out from the crowd, because Novitec has modified a Tesla Model 3.

It is not the first job Novitec has done with Elon Musk’s company, as it has already presented sport packs for the Tesla Model S and the Tesla Model X. Now it is the turn of the younger sibling of the sophisticated family, so this Tesla Model 3 features carbon fibre elements, 21-inch forged aluminium wheels, sport suspension and a more luxurious interior.

Novitec has improved the aerodynamics of the Tesla Model 3 with carbon fibre

At first glance, the first thing we can see on the Tesla Model 3 Novitec is an aggressive lip on the front, a discreet rear spoiler and an extension of the rear bumper that works as a diffuser. All these elements are made of carbon fibre, so they can be left bare (as on the unit they have shown) or ordered painted in the same colour as the bodywork. However, perhaps the most striking part of the whole set is the huge 21-inch wheels with a turbine-style design.

These huge wheels are fitted with tyres of two sizes: 245/30 ZR21 on the front axle and 295/25 ZR21 on the rear axle. They have been developed specifically for the Tesla Model 3, although customers who want this upgrade can choose from no fewer than 72 different colours, as well as opting for a brushed or polished finish.

The turbine-style design of the wheels is no coincidence, as their sharp shapes help the brakes cool down properly. Each of the five spokes has been designed specifically to ensure they always rotate in the optimal direction for greater airflow.

Sport suspension to improve resistance to air

Novitec has not limited itself to making cosmetic changes to the Tesla Model 3, so it has also installed sport springs that fit over the standard shock absorbers and lower the ride height by 30 mm. However, for those who want a more radical suspension, Novitec offers as an option an aluminium sport suspension that lowers the car’s height by 40 mm.

As well as the lowered height making the car more aggressive, sitting closer to the ground makes the Tesla Model 3 more aerodynamic. Besides the dynamic improvements this brings, range increases because the energy consumption of its battery is reduced by up to 7%.

Finally, Novitec has worked on the interior of the Tesla Model 3 to upholster the whole cabin in leather and Alcantara. The tuner has also greatly expanded customisation options, so customers can configure the interior with a wide palette of available colours.

The tuner has not touched the complex electric powertrain of the Tesla Model 3, nor does it need to. Let us not forget that the Performance version (the most performance-oriented of the range) is capable of reaching 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds (0.3 seconds less than the Porsche 911 Carrera S we recently tested) and reaching a top speed of 264 km/h.
