The Tesla Model S Plaid arrives in Europe with differences from the US version

The most powerful version of the Tesla Model S is arriving in Europe and can already be seen on German Autobahns, with differences from the US version.

Several owners of the Tesla Model S Plaid have already begun sharing photos of this model. This variant of the popular electric car has already started driving on European roads, although only in this country for now. It is expected to reach the rest of the countries soon, something many buyers are eagerly waiting for.

Among the things we have learned from these images is that the version sold in Europe is slightly different from the one found in the American market. The main differences lie in the top speed this version reaches and its towing capacity.

Higher speed and towing capacity

The Tesla Model S Plaid sold in the United States was introduced with a top speed of 163 mph, equivalent to 262 km/h. Shortly after launch, the company released a software update that raised that top speed to 175 mph, or 281 km/h.

However, according to the Certificate of Conformity visible in some of the photographs, which enables the homologation of this vehicle in Europe, the top speed is higher. It lists a figure of 300 km/h, which raises the US maximum by 29 km/h.

An announcement from Tesla claims that this top speed will increase in the near future to 322 km/h. However, to enjoy this speed a new carbon-ceramic brake kit will have to be installed. It will cost 20,000 euros on top of the price of the car.

This document also shows that the car will come as standard with a towbar, although fitting the towball is optional. The towing limit of the Tesla Model S Plaid is set at 1,600 kg, a fairly attractive figure.

In Spain, the Tesla Model S Plaid has a price of 139,900 euros. This includes pearl white multi-coat paint, a black interior and 19-inch wheels. As an option, 21-inch wheels can be fitted, and changing the interior colour or choosing one of the four body colours carries a considerable surcharge.

As for the latest version of Autopilot, it costs 3,800 euros, and having the autonomous driving option (although we already know it is not exactly that) adds 7,500 euros to the bill.
