The Volkswagen Golf GTi 8 as a render: this is what the sporty version of the German compact could look like
X-Tomi Design has been at it again, only this time it has decided to offer us its version of the upcoming Volkswagen Golf GTi 8.

Volkswagen has stirred up today’s automotive scene with the arrival of the eighth generation of its favourite child, the Golf. However, everyone knows that behind every generation of the German compact there are three iconic letters that bring out its most sporty side: GTi. After witnessing the delights of both the R-Line trim and the GTE variant, the world is eager to find out what the Golf R and the eighth-generation GTi have in store. Given the anticipation generated by both versions, designer X-Tomi Design has felt obliged to produce a render to satisfy the masses.
It was several months ago that a video surfaced from Africa showing what appeared to be a Golf 8 GTi test mule. However, the German brand has maintained a deafening silence on the matter and has not commented on the sporty variants of its quintessential compact.
What can we expect from the Volkswagen Golf GTi 8?
Thanks to X-Tomi Design and the presence of the new Volkswagen Golf, we can get a fairly close idea of what one of its most amped-up versions will look like. At first glance we find the same features seen on the conventional Golf but accentuated by a red strip running along the upper part of the grille, extending into the headlights alongside the characteristic honeycomb-panel grille.

Specific alloy wheels and identification badges will be some of the enchantments added to the GTi 8, along with a dual exhaust outlet set to reproduce its soundtrack. The cabin will be dressed in the already signature tartan upholstery and a gear lever knob shaped like a golf ball, two features complemented by the latest technology.
But what about the mechanical side? As we mentioned, Volkswagen has so far revealed not a single detail of what its next GTi will offer. Naturally, we suspect it will continue to use the well-known 2.0 TSI four-cylinder turbocharged engine, except that this time it will be supported by a small 48V electric motor which could push total power up to 270 CV in the Performance variant.

Everything points to the next Geneva Motor Show being where we learn more details about the imminent Golf GTi 8. With this premise, Volkswagen will remain faithful to the essence of an emblematic saga, which will endure over time but always adapt to the latest technologies.
