Within days, Volkswagen will begin selling the seventh generation of the Golf, the quintessential compact, although since the brand’s official announcement it has already been accepting orders. Today the addition of three new petrol engines, the 4Motion all-wheel drive system and a package of driver assistance systems that will make the driver’s daily life easier has been revealed.
In addition to the already known mechanical options available for the Volkswagen Golf VII, three four-cylinder petrol engines are being added. The first is a 1.2 TSI BlueMotion Technology with 105 CV, while the other two are a 1.4 TSI BlueMotion Technology offering outputs from 122 CV up to 140 CV. In the latter case, half of the cylinders can be automatically deactivated to save fuel.
All of these engines can be paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic that the brand calls DSG.

From now on we can also choose the 4Motion all-wheel drive system, which comes with two diesel engines and a manual gearbox. The engines will be the 1.6 TDI with 105 CV and the 2.0 TDI with 150 CV. The all-wheel drive system uses a Haldex-type central differential controlled by a computer that, when it detects a loss of grip on the rear axle, sends power there to solve the problem.
Finally, the German manufacturer has added a driver assistance package that offers sign recognition, an anti-theft system, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, Lane Assist and bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights.
For the time being, prices for Spain for all these new features already introduced across the Golf VII range are not yet known.
