This 1969 Mustang Mach 1 has been fused with a GT, and this is the result
The 1969 Mustang Mach 1 and the 2006 GT are being fused together thanks to Eckert’s Rod & Custom, who have combined both models to create a one-of-a-kind car.

We have always heard that saying that imagination has no limits, and it is very true and also applies to the world of motoring. Over time, we have watched numerous aftermarket companies create true marvels on their own and, although we have come across the odd extravagance, most receive the approval of car enthusiasts. Today we bring you one of those very special creations, where a 1969 Ford Mustang has decided to team up directly with its older brother, the Ford GT, from which it has inherited numerous parts.
The American company, Eckert’s Rod & Custom, which specializes in carrying out this kind of automotive madness, has been in charge of leading this interesting project. Starting from a 1969 Ford Mustang to restore and a crashed 2006 Ford GT, the firm has managed to get the best out of each component and bring to life this unique vehicle known as the Ford Mach 40.
Thanks to DIY Garage, who documented the entire restoration and donation process, we have been able to witness the amount of work that lies behind this very special Ford Mustang. However, the more than twenty minutes of video are not enough to reflect the arduous task carried out by the American company, which needed three years and more than 10,000 hours of work to complete this fusion of Ford Mustang and GT.

Aesthetically, we can see how the engineers at Eckert’s Rod & Custom have tried to stay as faithful as possible to the original design of the Mustang Mach 1. However, the surgical intervention the muscle car has undergone has forced modifications to some elements, something reflected in the width or length of the car itself. This was necessary in order to house inside it the powerful engine of the Ford GT, which has undergone a series of interesting modifications.
Beneath the rear glass of the Ford Mustang, we can see that the powerful supercharged 5.4-litre V8 that powered the previous-generation GT lies hidden there. This engine produces 558 CV of power and 678 Nm of torque, figures worthy of a vehicle in its category but not sufficient in the eyes of Eckert’s Rod & Custom for their Mach 40. To address that dissatisfaction, the company’s engineers fitted a larger turbo and carried out the necessary modifications to the ECU, two changes that raised power to 850 CV.

The suspension, steering, transmission and other mechanical components have been reinforced and adapted to current technology, with the aim of offering a perfect whole. In this way, Eckert’s Rod & Custom has managed to keep the essence of the Ford Mustang Mach 1 intact while also ensuring its modifications remain faithful to the brand Ford, since its mechanicals come directly from the GT, one of the most iconic models from the oval brand’s lineup.
