Video: this is how the Volkswagen Tiguan R sounds with its 320 CV and Akrapovic system
The Volkswagen Tiguan R has already hit the asphalt, showing off its performance and its heavenly melody thanks to an Akrapovic exhaust.
Volkswagen promised not long ago that its R family would soon no longer be represented solely by the Volkswagen Golf R. As promises are promises, the people in Wolfsburg launched onto the market a lineup of sporty SUVs led by the Touareg R, T-Roc R and Tiguan R, the latter being the one we are dealing with today. The latest addition to Volkswagen’s R department is already out on the streets, and today it has wanted to delight us with its heavenly sound, supplied by Akrapovic.
The Slovenian company has long been collaborating with the VAG Group to offer, as an option, a more eye-catching and sonorous exhaust, while allowing us to avoid the hassle of having to homologate it. Of course, this extra is also available on the Volkswagen Tiguan R, allowing the 2.0-litre TSI under its bonnet to give off an even catchier melody.
Behind the spicy, rugged styling that the German SUV offers in its R variant, we find a mechanical layout that lives up to the look. With due respect to the Touareg R, we are talking about the most powerful sporting Volkswagen model to date, since it earns its keep thanks to its 320 CV and 420 Nm of torque, figures extracted from the well-known 2.0-litre TSI turbo four-cylinder.

These performance figures, backed by a DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive, allow the Volkswagen Tiguan R to cover 0 to 100 in 4.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h. The video that stars in this article not only testifies to the lovely soundtrack of the German SUV, but also to its ability to deliver on what it promises.
In addition, the Akrapovic exhaust system sweetens the chant of the four-cylinder in a very well-crafted way. Rather than producing a higher or shriller tone, the new exhaust considerably amplifies the sound and blends it with a series of very catchy crackles and pops.

That is how Volkswagen wants to make some noise with its R family, which will soon gain more members, both combustion and electric. Either way, the new Volkswagen Tiguan R is ready for action, and it is only a matter of time before we see it battling its most direct rivals.
