Volkswagen Golf R Variant; 300 CV, 5 seats and a boot for the whole family

Volkswagen has officially confirmed the arrival of one of the most rebellious variants in the Golf range. We’re talking about the Golf R Variant, which will delight the most “fired-up” family men.
Although it was an open secret after countless rumours and plenty of stolen photos, the arrival of such a special model is still surprising.
This Golf R Variant stands out as the most special and exclusive Golf in the current range of the German compact. There had never been a Golf this powerful, let alone in estate form, until the arrival of this seventh generation, which brought the magic figure of 300 CV.

The exterior design of the Golf R Variant is the result of combining a Golf R and a Golf Variant. If you look at it from the front, it will be practically impossible to realise that you are looking at a Golf R with family aspirations. The side and rear views, of course, reveal the addition that makes the Golf Variant the most versatile Golf of all.
The rear is eye-catching thanks to its sporty bumper and four oval exhaust outlets.
Inside, something similar happens: you don’t realise you’re in a Golf Variant until you look back. The cabin is identical to that of the Golf R, which means enveloping seats partially trimmed in leather, gloss black lacquered details and specific instrumentation, among other things.

The engine remains unchanged from the compact body. It is a 2.0 TSI with 300 CV and 380 Nm, which catapult the German estate to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, with a top speed limited to 250 km/h. Its average consumption is rated at just 7 litres.
Its commercialisation is planned for spring 2015, while the first deliveries are scheduled for next summer.
