New Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid

Porsche presented the Cayenne S E-Hybrid at the Paris Motor Show last October. That same month an international event was held in which the first plug-in hybrid SUV in the premium segment could be tested, and it was subjected to an exhaustive analysis by the media experts in attendance.
The road test covered a total distance of 4,200 kilometres. The homologated consumption under the NEDC standard is 3.4 l/100 km, but among all the participants one managed to reduce that official consumption by two litres less every 100 kilometres driven, to 1.4 l/100 km. The average for the rest was 5.6 l/100 km.
Alongside the Cayenne S E-Hybrid the Panamera S E-Hybrid was also tested on the same roads. Thanks to its weight, rear-wheel drive and lower wind resistance, it achieved an average consumption of 5.4 l/100 km. The performance of this plug-in hybrid grand tourer was equally impressive as that of the SUV.

Both plug-in hybrid models were driven along routes around Frankfurt. The course mixed areas passing through villages, regional roads and motorways with some stretches without a speed limit. Taking advantage of the variety of routes, the setting was perfect for testing the pure electric mode. The 36 homologated kilometres on a test bench under the NEDC standard are also achievable in practice without consuming fuel or emitting any CO2.
The propulsion system of the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid develops 416 CV of power, achieving an acceleration of 5.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed of 243 km/h. It has been available at dealerships since October 2014.
The Cayenne S E-Hybrid joins the family of plug-in hybrids that already included the Panamera S E-Hybrid, the first plug-in hybrid in the luxury segment, launched on the market in August 2013 and the 918 Spyder supercar. Porsche thus demonstrates that performance and efficiency are not at all incompatible.

Characteristics of the three Porsche models that make up the brand’s greenest range:
- Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid: Average fuel consumption: 3.1 l/100 km; average CO2 emissions 71 g/km; average electricity consumption: 16.2 kWh/100 km.
- Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid: Average fuel consumption: 3.4 l/100 km; average CO2 emissions 79 g/km; average electricity consumption: 20.8 kWh/100 km.
- Porsche 918 Spyder: Average fuel consumption: 3.1 l/100 km; average CO2 emissions 72-70 g/km; average electricity consumption: 12.7 kWh/100 km.
