Volkswagen I.D R Pikes Peak: this is how impressive and silent its climb to the summit is

The Volkswagen I.D R Pikes Peak has been put through its paces before facing fierce competition, and the brand has treated us to this video of the sports car.

As with some models, we also find a series of races and circuits characterised by an iconic history, and that is the case with the Pikes Peak. The fact that Volkswagen has been developing the I.D R Pikes Peak for some time to take on this demanding competition excited everyone, but today we can finally see more of this project. The German brand has decided to take a step further and put its electric creation to the test and see how it performs on the tarmac that could lead it to victory.

The Pikes Peak is known as one of the competitions with the most history in the United States, where over countless editions hundreds of vehicles have tried to claim victory. Now it is Volkswagen’s turn again, which, after attempting it with a very special Golf, is going all out with its latest electric creation, which has been conceived to claim victory in this magnificent competition.

After the German brand told us about its technical specifications and its incredible aerodynamics, Volkswagen wanted to delight us with a video of the I.D climbing at full speed to the summit of the Pikes Peak. However, the engineers faced a hard task, since the I.D R’s spectacular design had to be optimal enough to cope with the conditions of this race.

The German competition supercar will have to contend with a race that starts at 2,862 metres above sea level and ends at 4,302 metres above sea level. To overcome the various adversities this tough but exciting race presents, Volkswagen has worked hard on different elements to ensure that the I.D R Pikes Peak comes out on top of the competition.

Mechanically, it features two electric hearts that will not only give the I.D R outstanding performance, but will also be environmentally respectful at all times. However, the German brand has focused all its efforts on ensuring its latest creation can overcome its rivals and claim victory, something it should achieve thanks to its 670 CV and its light weight of just 1,100 kilos.

In this way, Volkswagen aims to conquer the 156 corners that make up the circuit and conquer the Pikes Peak. The race will take place on 24 June but, before the event, the brand has decided to test the Pikes Peak alone, which is why Volkswagen has come along with its I.D to unleash the hard work that has gone into this feat of engineering.
