Volkswagen will present a plug-in hybrid Golf with more than 400 CV at Worthersee
The Volkswagen Golf GTI First Decade will be presented as a prototype at Worthersee with a highly innovative traction system and up to 400 CV of power

Volkswagen has unveiled a revolutionary sporty and hybrid concept, the Golf GTI First Decade, which will be presented to the public tomorrow during Worthersee, an annual gathering dedicated to the most devoted fans of the German brand.
The Golf GTI prototype takes the name First Decade from the ten years since Volkswagen’s apprentices presented their first project at Worthersee. This monstrous GTI features a petrol engine that delivers 404 CV of power to the front wheels.

It can be configured to drive in all-wheel drive, front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. This powertrain is accompanied by an electric unit that transmits power to the rear wheels, so it is a four-wheel-drive vehicle, but that is not all. Volkswagen states that the car can be configured for front-wheel drive (using the internal combustion engine only), rear-wheel drive (electric motor only) or all-wheel drive (a combination of both). To charge the two batteries located at the rear of the compact, Volkswagen’s apprentices have designed a regenerative braking system.
In terms of design, the Volkswagen Golf GTI First Decade stands out for an attractive colour combination that includes the dark and light blue of the bodywork and the blue and black wheels. This sporty compact incorporates the same rear spoiler as the Clubsport version and a series of badges bearing the name First Decade. Inside, there is also upholstery dominated by blue, along with a 1,690-watt sound system featuring up to 11 speakers and a subwoofer.

In addition to the First Decade version, Volkswagen will present one more model at Worthersee: the Golf GTE Estate Impulse. This vehicle will use the same engine as the standard Golf GTE, but the capacity of its battery has been increased from 8.8 kWh to 16.8 kWh, meaning its range is double that of the current GTE.
