Volvo expands its range of electric trucks with the FM Low Entry
The specific features of this model make it the perfect choice for carrying out certain tasks in an urban environment, such as refuse collection and other types of waste removal.
Volvo Trucks continues to advance the electrification of its truck range by adding a new model to its lineup. It is the FM Low Entry, a model designed for work within the metropolitan areas of large cities, which stands out both for the excellent visibility enjoyed by the driver and for its ability to carry heavy loads.
Additionally, given that it is a fully electric model, another important advantage of the FM Low Entry is that it reduces noise pollution and nighttime disturbances compared with an equivalent model with a diesel engine.

Volvo Trucks, one of the largest manufacturers of heavy vehicles, expects half of its global sales to correspond to fully electric models by 2030. The company already has several electric trucks in its catalogue, and with the launch of the FM Low Entry it aims to take a further step forward that will help it reach this goal.
The city is its natural habitat
The Swedish manufacturer explains that the new FM Low Entry is the perfect vehicle, for example, for refuse collection services, and is also suitable for the distribution and construction sectors. The company highlights that the low height of the driver’s position allows excellent visibility of everything around the vehicle, greatly facilitating certain specific types of tasks.
The FM Low Entry is based on the FM model that Volvo Trucks already sells, but differs from it in that the cab has been positioned lower and further forward. In this way, in addition to improving visibility as already mentioned, it is possible to get in and out of the cab more easily – hence its name. According to the manufacturer, this modification allows for a much more comfortable and efficient working environment in urban settings.

As for its technical specifications, the FM Low Entry is equipped with four battery packs that together provide a total capacity of 360 kWh. This should be sufficient to cover around 200 km on a single charge. This figure, however, will vary considerably depending on many factors, including the weight of the load.
Always ready to start a new working day
When recharging, this new electric truck from Volvo Trucks has an onboard charger of 43 kW when using a three-phase AC wallbox. It is also possible to recharge with DC current, with a peak power supported in this case of 250 kW. A full charge can then be achieved in around an hour and a half. Finally, the manufacturer explains that the engine power is 330 kW.

Volvo Trucks will begin accepting orders for the FM Low Entry this very quarter in both Europe and South Korea, so that production can start in the second quarter of this same year with first deliveries to follow.
