You can get a Renault Clio for €120 a month, but what's behind this offer?

Renault wanted to promote the new Clio with this tempting offer of €120 a month, but is it really worth it?

City cars and compacts are starting to come with a range of technologies more typical of large saloons than of vehicles in their category. A clear example of this important progress is the new Renault Clio, a model that bets on an arsenal of novelties that would have been unimaginable in a car of its segment just a few years ago. However, the brand with the diamond has kept its composure and continues to offer excellent value for money across its range, something that has been accentuated thanks to this new offer that lets us get a Renault Clio for €120 a month.

However, behind every offer lie a series of conditions that must be analysed, because otherwise we risk unpleasant surprises. That is why, before making a decision, the fine print of any offer or discount must be read carefully, however tempting it may seem at first glance.

What do we get with this Renault Clio offer?

Well, before analysing all the details, we must bear in mind that offers are usually tied to a specific variant, and the Renault Clio case is no exception. To be more precise, those interested in taking up this tempting payment method should know that it will only be applicable to the Clio Intens with the 72 CV SCe engine.

This trim includes as standard equipment a 7-inch touchscreen without navigation, 16-inch wheels, LED lights, lane-keeping assist, cruise control and braking assistance, among others. As for the engine, we are dealing with a modest three-cylinder with 72 CV and 95 Nm of torque, figures that will allow us to achieve restrained consumption and cope well in urban environments.

But what’s behind this offer for the Renault Clio?

First of all, we must be aware that it is not as simple as going to the dealership, ordering our Clio and starting to pay this monthly instalment. We must face a series of conditions that, depending on our needs and circumstances, may suit us more or less.

We will have to meet a 49-month instalment of €120 with a APR of 10.13%. In addition, we will have to pay an initial deposit of €576.46 and a final payment of €7,855.68, finance a minimum of €6,000 and accept a minimum contract term of 36 months. In the case of the €120/month instalment offered by Renault itself, we will need to finance a total of €10,379.60, a figure that, together with the nominal interest rate of 8.65% and the APR mentioned above, rises to €14,513.91, compared with the €10,956.06 we would pay in cash thanks to the brand’s own promotions.

What other options are there on the market compared with the Renault Clio?

Although the Renault Clio is one of the city cars with the best value for money, we must also consider other options. Currently, the range of models in this segment is very wide, which means that vehicles such as the Volkswagen Polo or the Ford Fiesta become serious contenders if we are weighing up the idea of buying a city car.

The SEAT Ibiza should also be among our options thanks to its competitive price. But if our budget is somewhat more generous, we can always opt for the close relative of the Spanish car, the Audi A1, one of the premium options in the segment in which the Renault Clio competes.

If we want to look after our finances and not spend too much on fuel, we can always opt for the new Toyota Yaris, a model that, true to tradition, makes use of hybridisation to reduce emissions and consumption.
