Zeekr X: we already have all the information about the Chinese electric SUV that wants to conquer Europe

The brand Zeekr, which is part of the Geely conglomerate, has already launched the electric SUV Zeekr X in China and announces the model’s arrival in the European market.

Zeekr X Suv Electrico

A few months ago we began talking about the Zeekr X, a segment C SUV that will soon arrive in Europe with the intention of going head to head with European brands. Zeekr is a brand under the umbrella of Geely, owner of Volvo. We already knew several details about the model, but we still lacked the most important ones: the engine that will provide its power and the battery that will feed it.

Let’s review what we already know about the Zeekr X. To begin with, it is a segment C SUV with dimensions of 4.45 metres long, 1.86 metres wide and 1.53 metres high. This places it against models that aim to win a significant share of the European market.

We also know it is built on the common platform used by several models from the Geely brands, such as the Smart #1 or the Volvo XC20, which will soon be on the market. This platform is called SEA and can accommodate a battery pack with a capacity of 66 kWh, which is the one used by the Smart #1 and which the Zeekr X will use too, at least in some of its versions.

With this battery it will be capable of a range of up to 560 kilometres on the CLTC cycle, which, as we know, is somewhat less demanding than the European WLTP cycle. In this case, the range will be quoted at around 450 kilometres on a single charge. As for the engine, we also expect several versions, and the top range will fit two electric motors delivering a combined output of 315 kW, that is, 428 CV.

With this configuration, it will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, which is not bad for a car with a family spirit. If the configuration of the Smart #1 is repeated, as is expected, there will be a version with a single motor producing 272 CV.

We also know that the influence of Volvo has been decisive in the interior design, and we see a rather clean cabin with a central screen of good size that has one particular feature: it can move from the centre to a position facing the front passenger.

The price the manufacturer has set for China is 189,800 yuan, equivalent to approximately 25,100 euros. When it reaches Europe it will cost somewhat more, between 30,000 and 35,000 euros, which is not bad considering what it offers. It is expected to arrive in Europe at the end of 2023, so we will not have to wait long to see more of this much-anticipated model.
