AGTZ Twin Tail by Zagato is an Alpine A110 that recalls the A220, with a long-tail and short-tail configuration that can be removed in minutes

Can an Alpine A110 cost more than a whopping €650,000? The answer is yes, and all it takes is for the small French coupé to pass through the workshops of Zagato, where the Italian coachbuilder carries out a conversion, then you change its name and release it as an exclusive limited edition, and you have the perfect recipe for asking for this small fortune.
AGTZ Twin Tail is the name of Zagato’s new creation based on the Alpine A110, a creation of which only 19 units will be manufactured for the whole world, and whose chassis no. 00 was presented last weekend during the celebration of the FuoriConcorso on the shores of Lake Como. Later, in July, it will have a new dynamic presentation where we will be able to see it in motion.

What makes AGTZ Twin Tail so special that it costs so much money? Well, Zagato has used the Alpine A110 to create a modern recreation of the A220, which came close to the top spot at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1960s and which, like it, also will feature a long-tail and short-tail configuration that can be fitted or removed in a matter of minutes.

Each donor Alpine A110 will spend 15 weeks in Zagato’s workshops, during which it will undergo a transformation process lasting 1,000 hours. As you can imagine, most of the work goes into the rear section, with a tail that is made from carbon fibre to make it as light as possible while also improving its aerodynamics, allowing it to reach 100 km/h in under five seconds and reach a top speed exceeding 250 km/h. In the long-tail configuration it will measure 4,799 mm, while with the short tail its length will be 4,305 mm.

This is essentially what Zagato will offer for a starting price of €650,000, as there will be various extra options that can increase this amount. You can choose from 19 colours and 9 racing liveries, carbon-fibre wheels and a new front end that includes a new bonnet, enlarged headlights in the style of the A220, bumpers and, of course, we can’t forget the Supersprint exhaust. Mechanically, the engine will remain the 1,800 cc turbocharged four-cylinder with 252 CV and 340 Nm of torque, a power output that can be increased if requested together with a new suspension and braking system.
