Audi e-tron FE04, the new single-seater for Formula E
Audi has unveiled its new single-seater to compete in Formula E, in which it has applied all available technology to secure victory in the race

Formula E is the category of single-seaters that uses electricity as fuel, a championship that is driving manufacturers to make remarkable progress in this type of technology. Among these manufacturers is Audi, which has become the first German manufacturer to present a single-seater of this kind, and which has the Audi e-tron FE04 as its main asset for winning in this category.
This single-seater, which will begin its journey in the Formula E championship from next season onward, precisely represents the brand’s advance in the fully electric automotive market. The combination of the electric motor, the battery, the transmission and certain suspension components, together with the software developed to manage the application of electrical energy, has made it possible to present this car for the most demanding electric car competition on the calendar.
New motor developed with Schaeffler
The single-seater incorporates all of Audi’s advances in electric mobility technology. The first element is the most important, so the Audi engineers have focused on the design of the motor-generator, which, combined with a single-speed transmission, will allow the single-seater to deliver maximum performance during the race. To do so, they have relied on their technology partner, Schaeffler, with whom they have developed a new propulsion system, covered with a carbon fibre casing to reduce the weight of the car.
Aesthetically, the Audi e-tron FE04 of the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler team will feature a new livery in white, metallic green and black as its main colours, although car number 66, driven by Daniel Abt, will also display red stripes to distinguish it from number 1, which will be driven by Lucas di Grassi. The new Audi e-tron FE04 will debut in Hong Kong on 2 December, although it can already be seen at several events, such as the E-Mobility Play Days at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Valencia will also be one of the places where both of the team’s single-seaters can be seen during the official pre-season tests.
