Audi wishes you a Merry Christmas with its Night Vision Assistant

It’s here already. Whether you’re one of those who enjoy the Christmas holidays or one of those who can’t stand them, they’re upon you. And the big brands also want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and make an effort to show the most pleasant side of these days in TV ads and campaigns that link their products with the joy of the days ahead. Audi has also wanted to do so and shows us one of the technologies fitted to its models.
After announcing the introduction of its new 3D audio system in the Audi Q7, which we saw a few days ago, it now shows us the benefits of its Night Vision Assistant, a technology that reveals what cannot be seen with the naked eye, thanks to the screen located in the centre of the car’s centre console.
The Night Vision Assistant works thanks to a thermal camera that picks up the heat given off by objects in front of the vehicle. The image then passes through a processor that transmits it to the console screen, and the computer interprets the image obtained, displaying what that heat represents. If it considers that an object could cause problems or represents a person or animal, it highlights that image and warns the driver.
Although car headlights have a fairly generous range, this system can detect the heat of objects up to 300 metres away. This technology is available as an option on several models and proves to be a good ally for night-time driving, in environments like those shown in the brand’s Christmas advert.
Safety is one of the areas receiving the most attention, using various technologies that give the driver greater control over everything around them. From more efficient optical units to more sophisticated technologies of this kind that considerably improve driving. Will they become commonplace across all models in a relatively short time?
