Awesome! The Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo breaks the Nürburgring record by just over 5 minutes

Porsche has gone to the Nürburgring to set a new record with its 919 Hybrid Evo, which has posted an impressive lap time of 5:19.55 minutes

The Nürburgring is one of the most demanding and appealing circuits in the world, as it draws numerous enthusiasts to its surroundings, but they are not the only ones who regard it as a place of worship. Car manufacturers themselves frequently take to the asphalt of the Green Hell, as they seek not only to fine-tune their most extreme creations, but also to break records with existing models. Porsche has a long track record of lifting titles over its most direct rivals, but on this occasion it wanted to go further by setting a new record with the 919 Hybrid Evo.

Porsche is not only known for offering one of the most efficient road vehicle fleets in the world, but also for competition. At its peak, the 919 Hybrid Evo is what the German brand understands a racing car to be, and the idea Porsche has is not far from reality. The 919 is one of the most efficient and fastest vehicles in its category, and once again it proves it by tearing up the asphalt of the Nürburgring.

The brand has already demonstrated on countless occasions what its most extreme and sporty creations can do, such as the 911 GT3 RS and GT2 RS, which have spectacular times on the Green Hell. However, the company wanted to emphasise this with the 919 Hybrid, a competition vehicle that combines all the advantages of a combustion engine with the assistance that an electric motor is capable of providing.

Timo Bernhard, winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and current World Endurance Champion, was in charge of getting behind the wheel of the impressive Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo and setting a new record. The 37-year-old German has extensive experience in the world of competition and was presented as the ideal candidate to carry out the task of reclaiming the record on the Nordschleife.

With a time of 5:19.55 minutes, the Porsche 919 Hybrid and Bernhard have been able to bring the German brand back to glory. The last time a new record was set on the Nürburgring circuit was in 1983, when the Porsche 956 C managed to stop the clock at an impressive 6:11.13 minutes. However, the Stuttgart brand has decided to rewrite history with its current models and thus demonstrate the high level its vehicles continue to maintain.

Let’s not forget that the 919 Hybrid Evo houses a powerful 2.0-litre V4 engine combined with an electric motor. Both powerplants together deliver a total output of 1,160 CV, a figure which, combined with the 849 kilos the supercar weighs on the scales, allows the 919 Hybrid to fly over any terrain and set records like this one at the Nürburgring and like the previous one at Spa
