Until the M2 reaches dealerships, the first “M pata negra” models we can buy are the M3 and M4.

The current generation offers more performance and driving thrills than ever, although for those who are always keen to “go one step further”, BMW introduces the Competition Package for the M3 and M4.

The current M3 and M4 are in fact the same car, since the M4 is what until now we have known as the M3 Coupé. Because of this change in nomenclature, they differ somewhat more within the BMW range. The current generations of these vehicles (F30 and F32) offer, in their M versions, more power than ever, with a very aggressive chassis in which sportiness is the dominant note.

It is also worth noting that six-cylinder inline engines are being used again, although for the first time within the German brand, an M3/M4 uses forced induction. As a result, power rises to 431 CV, ensuring at the very least brilliant performance.

In any case, as befits an M, the sportiness is more than evident in its design too, thanks to all kinds of add-ons including bumpers, widened wings, specific alloy wheels, sport exhausts and the use of lightweight materials such as CFRP. Inside, the dominant note is set by the semi-bucket seats, the carbon fibre trim and the specific instrumentation.

Now, with the most demanding in mind, BMW launches an equipment line called the Competition Package, with which the German manufacturer offers an additional turn of the screw both dynamically and aesthetically, differing from its “traditional” siblings thanks to, for example, new alloy wheels taken from the M4 GTS, measuring 20″.

With the Competition Package sportiness is gained thanks to less filtered driving sensations

Details such as the inclusion of the “M Sports Exhaust System” sports exhaust, which gives the model an even more sporty sound, are also included. The “BMW Individual Shadow Line” finish line is also added, with which the chrome details are finished in gloss black.

Mechanically, however, the differences are most evident. As its star measure, a slight increase in power, going from 431 CV to 450 CV. In addition, the standard suspension is replaced by the “M Adaptive Suspension”, with new springs, dampers and thicker anti-roll bars.

To this new suspension the inclusion of the M active differential is added, as well as a recalibration of both the driving modes and the operation of the stability control. The result of all these adjustments is an even more beastly M, with a sharper driving purity, which sets comfort aside somewhat in order to offer more sensations. The price of the Competition Package has not yet been announced.
