BMW R nineT and R18 100 Years, two special editions to commemorate the centenary of the first BMW
In 1923 the first motorcycle manufactured by BMW was presented for the first time, the R32, which, with its two-cylinder, four-stroke boxer engine, began an unprecedented success story
To celebrate no less than the 100th anniversary of the presentation of its BMW R32 in September 1923, BMW Motorrad has just unveiled two special editions of two of its most iconic models today, the R nineT Roadster and the R18 Cruiser big boxer. In this very special and exclusive version, these models are named R nineT 100 Years and R18 100 Years, and they will also be limited to 1923 units in honour of this anniversary.
Starting first with the BMW R nineT 100 Years, BMW Motorrad has wanted to give this special edition a design inspired by its 100 years of experience in building motorcycles. The compact tank, the upright seating position and, as could not be otherwise in a BMW, the high-quality materials make this edition a truly exclusive version of the model, while retaining the 109 CV air/oil-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine.
The paint finishes of the new nineT 100 Years, combined with the chrome-plated surfaces, bring back a distinctive feature of legendary models such as the BMW R 75/5, whose tank sides and side covers were chrome-plated. In addition, this tank, painted black and white with chrome details, also carries a badge marking the 100 years of the first BMW motorcycle, and is the crowning touch alongside the seat in a two-tone black/reddish combination.

The best of the past and the present
The front wheel cover has also been painted black, as have the fork tubes and the air intake tube, components which, together with the 719 Classic wheels with black anodised rims, give a very elegant and attractive result.
Another of the most distinctive features of this special edition is the Option 719 Shadow parts package, which adds milled cylinder head and crankcase covers, seat mounts and an oil filler cap, or the Option 719 Shadow II package, which adds adjustable hand levers, a passenger footrest system, expansion tank covers and handlebar-end mirrors, also milled.
To complete the product, BMW Motorrad has also included adaptive cornering lights, the comfort package with heated grips, cruise control and Driving Modes Pro. Additionally, as an option, an anti-theft alarm system can also be fitted.

For travelling, the BMW R18 100 Years
Turning to the BMW R18 100 Years, equipped with the largest-displacement engine ever fitted by BMW Motorrad, producing 91 CV, the Bavarian firm has, as with its special-edition sibling, applied the same colour combination, featuring black paintwork alongside chrome-plated elements. Also like the nineT, the R18 debuts a seat bench upholstered in a two-tone black/fox-blood combination with a high-quality diamond pattern.
The new R18 100 Years has its engine, gearbox and rear shaft drive in black Avus Black, a name that refers to the legendary Berlin high-speed racing circuit, where BMW Motorrad enjoyed great success.

As a mark of high quality, the new BMW R18 features a high-quality galvanic coating on the handlebar clamps, the gear and rear brake pedal levers, the handlebar clamps, the counterweights, the mirrors, the brake master cylinders, the calipers, the engine crankcase and cylinder head covers, and the intake manifold trim.
Finally, the BMW R18 100 Years includes rear silencers signed by Akrapovič, the Headlight Pro system with adaptive cornering light, reverse assist, electronic cruise control and heated handlebars. Optional equipment includes the anti-theft alarm system, the passenger package, footrests, hill start control, the fuel cap with lock and power reduction.
