Bugatti and its CEO confirm it: there will be no SUV sharing a production line with the Chiron and the Divo
Bugatti, one of the brands that everyone was watching for a possible expansion of its family, has just denied developing an SUV.

The SUV segment has been making its mark on our market since the beginning of the century, causing every single brand to succumb to this type of vehicle, even those dedicated exclusively to supercars. Lamborghini, Ferrari and even Maserati are some of the brands that have welcomed -and will welcome- a member of this segment into their model family. All the rumours pointed to Bugatti, one of the most prestigious brands in the world, developing an SUV to join forces with the Chiron and the Divo. However, Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of the French firm, has denied these accusations in an interview.
Thanks to Winkelmann’s strong and confident words, many can now breathe easy, since the SUV segment will not be represented by the Bugatti logo. The French firm has its objectives and its path very clearly defined, and one of these vehicles is not part of it, so the brand will continue to focus exclusively on developing hypercars.
“There will be no SUV from Bugatti”
“There will be no SUV from Bugatti,” Stephan Winkelmann stated, adding that “the presence of one of those vehicles would not do justice to the brand or its history“. With this premise, the CEO of the French firm wanted to make it clear that its intentions are to keep building vehicles of the calibre of the Chiron and the Divo, two models that aspire to become the fastest production cars in the world.

This is how Bugatti completely rejects SUVs and their strong influence on the contemporary market, seeking to keep its exclusivity intact and focus on a very specific audience. In this way, the brand intends to keep competing head-to-head with other firms that follow a very similar philosophy, such as Pagani or Koenigsegg.
Bugatti has a surprise in store for us
In that same interview with Autocar, Stephan Winkelmann stated that this year the French firm would turn 110 years old, reason enough to give us some surprise. With this premise, we can expect that it will be at the upcoming motor shows when Bugatti presents some concept car capable of previewing future production models, such as that supposed four-door model we saw a few months ago.

Whatever the case, we should expect important innovations from Bugatti, a brand that says “no” to SUVs but welcomes many other possibilities with open arms. Given the times we live in, it would not be far-fetched to consider that the brand might turn to electrification to bring a future hybrid model to life or even a 100% electric one. Only time will tell.
