BYD Electric Cars Hybrid Cars SUV
BYD presents a new model, the Song Plus, which has been spotted in Europe during its testing
The Chinese brand is working to bring the model to Europe and is testing it on our continent to measure its emissions in its plug-in version.

The Chinese company BYD is pushing hard into the automotive market, and not a month goes by without some surprise related to it. This month it has surprised us with a new model, initially aimed at the Chinese market, but which has been spotted in Europe during the tests it has undergone. It is the BYD Song Plus, and we are going to present it to you, because it may arrive in Spain next year.
It is an SUV that is offered in several versions in the Chinese market. It is presented as a plug-in hybrid, although it also has an electric version. Its size qualifies it as a segment D SUV, with a length of 4.78 metres, so it falls into the same category as the SEAT Tarraco or the Tesla Model Y. But let’s go step by step and see what it offers in each of these versions.

Plug-in hybrid and electric versions
The plug-in hybrid version is powered by a 1.5-litre engine, which delivers 110 CV. Alongside this combustion unit there is an electric motor that adds the equivalent of 197 CV to the total. The price of this plug-in hybrid is just under 22,000 euros in China and, according to rumours, it could be the version with the most potential to reach Europe first.

As for the electric version, it comes with two battery packs: one of 71 kWh and a slightly larger one of 87 kWh, which according to the company will offer a range of between 520 and 604 kilometres. Note, however, that this is under the CLTC homologation cycle. The motor is expected to produce 218 CV, and its price is set at 24,000 euros at current exchange rates, although the 604-kilometre version rises to 27,300 euros. A figure that makes it a very attractive car.
The car is a renewed version of an existing model. It has been updated with the Ocean X design, which the brand is already using on other models. The difference between the electric and the plug-in hybrid variant is the grille. In the former, it is presented blanked off, while the latter has ventilation for the combustion engine.
Its dimensions are 4.78 metres in length, as already mentioned, 1.89 metres in width and a wheelbase of 2.76 metres, which guarantees a very comfortable interior. It has one screen for the instrument cluster and another 15.6-inch screen for the infotainment system. The rest of the equipment is very similar to other SUVs of this kind and includes several ADAS systems that enhance safety.
