Citroën delivers several electric vehicles to the island of Chalki
Several Greek islands are preparing the transition to electric mobility with the participation of brands such as Citroën, which has provided several electric vehicles.

The Greek island of Chalki is becoming a location where electric mobility is becoming one of the most popular options chosen by the local government. It is part of a programme to electrify the vehicles that circulate on the island, and gradually ICE vehicles are being replaced by electric ones.
Recently we learned that the police fleet on the island of Astypalaia was reinforced with the addition of several units of Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4, so other Greek islands are joining this project. Chalki also wants to test the benefits of electric mobility and has received several units of electric Citroën vehicles to serve on the island.

Electric vehicles to improve quality of life
Among the vehicles delivered to the island’s authorities are two Citroën AMI. These have been assigned to reinforce the police and Coast Guard fleets. We know this model is not exactly a marvel for chasing down criminals, but it is very practical for the town’s streets and for moving smoothly along the island’s narrow roads.
Among the vehicles that will provide public service are also two ë-C4, which will form part of the town council fleet. Other vehicles also ready for this service are an MPV, the ë-Spacetourer, and a delivery van, the ë-Jumpy.

CITROËN ELECTRIC MOBILITY IN CHALKI
These vehicles will be available to the local government on a free lease for 48 months. Once this period has passed, Citroën will buy them and hand them over to the island. In this way, the electrification programme for public vehicles on the island will cost its residents nothing.
To accelerate the electrification of traffic on the island, Citroën will offer special conditions for all residents who want to replace their ICE vehicle with one with an electric motor. There will be discounts on the purchase of AMI quadricycles and other fully electric vehicles. The connected services offered with them, which are paid elsewhere, will be completely free for the inhabitants of Chalki.
With these programmes, several small Greek islands are making a rapid and efficient transition to electric mobility, and the experience gathered will serve other places where electric mobility is to be introduced into public service.
