Complete safety equipment for the Peugeot 5008

The driver assistance equipment fitted to the new Peugeot 5008 is very extensive. It complements the versatility of this new SUV.

Active and passive safety systems have become the main features on which many brands base their equipment, while driver assistance and infotainment systems have also grown in importance. The Peugeot 5008 is one of those vehicles that showcases its equipment in this area. It can be driven through city streets, on the open road or over difficult terrain with complete peace of mind.

For those who find asphalt too limiting, the new Peugeot 5008 features Advanced Grip Control, which is activated through the rotary dial on the centre console, allowing the driver to choose one of five available driving modes (Normal, Snow, Mud, Sand and ESP off), which limit the transfer of engine torque to the front axle and manage braking depending on the terrain. It is combined with a new Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC) system. It can maintain the vehicle at very low speeds (3 km/h), providing control and safety in critical situations. This function is activated by a button on the centre console.

On the road and in town, the Peugeot 5008 offers equipment such as automatic emergency braking, collision risk alert, speed limit sign recognition, Park Assist and the Visiopark 360º camera. The Distance Alert (collision risk alert) function warns the driver when there is a risk of colliding with the vehicle in front or with a pedestrian. The Active Safety Brake (automatic emergency braking) acts if the driver does not react quickly enough and does not apply the brakes after a previous warning. The unintentional lane departure warning is a system that uses a camera to detect unintended crossing of solid or dashed lane markings. In addition, between 65 km/h and 180 km/h it performs a trajectory correction to keep the vehicle in its original lane.

For long journeys, the Peugeot 5008 also features driver drowsiness alert. This activates when it detects that the driver has not taken a break after two consecutive hours at the wheel at speeds above 65 km/h. The alert is delivered by a message on screen, accompanied by an audible signal. In addition, a camera mounted at the top of the windscreen identifies deviations from the road markings. Visual and audible warnings are triggered to alert the driver.

For greater control over the speed limit on each road, the Peugeot 5008 incorporates the traffic sign recognition system. It detects and reads maximum speed and end-of-speed-limit signs and displays them on the instrument cluster. It also takes into account information received from the navigation system’s map data.

For those for whom parking becomes a daunting task, the Peugeot 5008 is equipped with Park Assist technology. The system takes the vehicle’s dimensions into account thanks to sensors fitted in the front and rear bumpers. During the manoeuvre, the vehicle controls the steering, while the driver handles acceleration, braking, gear selection and the clutch, if the car is fitted with a manual gearbox.

It also offers a new generation of connected 3D navigation thanks to the innovative Peugeot Connect NAV. It can be operated by voice commands or via the touchscreen. Information can pass directly from the touchscreen to the digital instrument cluster for greater legibility, with just a single movement of a control on the steering wheel. It features TomTom Traffic, a tool that displays real-time traffic conditions. It comes as standard on the Allure, GT Line and GT trim levels.
