Cupra makes its first appearance at the Geneva Motor Show: Cupra Ateca

The Geneva Motor Show has served as a springboard for Cupra to present its range of models as its own brand. The Cupra Ateca, its first launch, is already ready.

SEAT’s sportiest brand, Cupra, has split from the Spanish company, giving rise to a new and independent brand.

The Geneva Motor Show has served as the venue for Cupra to present its first official model, the Ateca, with a highly sporty image.

Cupra has always been synonymous with sportiness. We all remember models such as the first SEAT Ibiza Cupra or the Seat León Cupra R, with their hundreds of horsepower and a tuning that is hard to surpass. Now, the people at SEAT have decided to part ways with Cupra, giving it its own identity.

Cupra has already become a company with its own image, capable of making its own decisions. Its first own model has been the Cupra Ateca, based, as it could not be otherwise, on the SEAT Ateca, the first SUV in the history of the Spanish company. The Ateca has served as a blank canvas for the sports brand to express its personality.

At the Geneva Motor Show we were able to see the Cupra Ateca in all its glory. The sporty SUV presents a very aggressive look thanks to a brand-new 100% logo (with a very personal style that not everyone will find appealing) and a front with a specific bumper featuring very prominent air intakes.

Specific wheels, a matte body colour that is also exclusive, and a rear finished with four exhaust outlets top off a body that seeks, above all, to express its sportiness without any complexes.

Inside, the changes in the new model compared with a conventional Ateca focus on the trim, with a different steering wheel and upholstery that is more visually appealing. The Ateca Cupra will come as standard with a digital instrument cluster. Mechanically, the Ateca Cupra stands apart with a 2.0 TSI engine producing 300 CV, available only with 4Drive all-wheel drive and DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
