Dähler's BMW M850i with 635 hp outperforms even the BMW M8 Competition

Dähler’s BMW M850i could put the very BMW M8 Competition on the ropes. Will the member of the sporting division be able to keep up with it?

Tuner Dähler has managed to squeeze every last drop out of the BMW M850i, reaching 635 hp, a figure that surpasses that of the BMW M8 Competition itself. The BMW M850i’s 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, with 530 hp and 750 Nm of torque, could allow the model to go head to head with some of the most powerful beasts on the market.

Dähler has unleashed the power of this large sports coupé, delivering 635 hp and a maximum torque of 850 Nm. This places it just above the new BMW M8 Competition, which currently produces 625 hp and 750 Nm of torque.

It is also capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, half a second faster than the standard BMW M850i. Moreover, the tuner itself may be working on an even more radical version, which could also inject that extra kick into any Series 8. For the BMW 840i, power rises from 340 hp and 500 Nm of maximum torque to 408 hp and 610 Nm of maximum torque.

For its part, the diesel BMW 840d currently produces up to 380 hp and 800 Nm of maximum torque; with this power boost, it could offer 60 hp more and 120 Nm of additional torque.

This is Dähler’s BMW M850i, a beast that is not afraid of the BMW M8 Competition

Owners of their BMW Series 8 who want to enhance the visual appeal of their German grand tourer will be able to do so. The Swiss tuner has developed a front lip spoiler, suspension kit, stainless steel exhaust systems with silencers and 21-inch wheels called CDC1 Counter, wrapped in Michelin tyres.

Soon, owners of the German Gran Turismo will be able to find a shock absorber kit and the DDC Plug & Play, which will make the large coupé even more agile.

Although this is a tuning job carried out by a company outside the Bavarian brand, it is worth highlighting that the model was first unveiled to the public at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show, marking 30 years in 2019. At that same show, the brand managed to accumulate more than 5,000 reservations.

Since its beginnings and its arrival on the roads, the BMW Series 8 has become an icon for the propeller maker, whether for its sportiness or its elegance and sophistication. Now, with this new generation, the BMW Series 8 in any of its versions has become one of the most sought-after coupés, especially if buyers opt for the BMW M850i version or the BMW M8 or BMW M8 Competition. Another option is to choose this version modified and enhanced by Dähler, which surpasses the most radical model from BMW’s high-performance division, BMW M.

There is still one difference: the all-wheel drive system of the BMW M8 family, which incorporates an active M differential, and includes two normal driving modes: all-wheel drive and all-wheel drive Sport. It is worth noting that if drivers switch off the electronic stability control, they can select a rear-wheel drive driving mode that sends all the power to the rear axle.

BMW has said it is particularly proud of the new suspension setup of the BMW M8 Competition, which is equipped with adaptive dampers specific to M vehicles and the M Servotronic electromechanical steering. Will Dähler’s tuning be just as good?
