Dodge has just unveiled this electric prototype that will have as much power as a combustion-engine model and even the sound of a V8 engine.

The shift in mobility is already unstoppable, and it seems we are going to be left without those striking cars coming from the United States, the famous muscle cars. But that is not entirely true, and Dodge wants to prove it with its electric prototype, which has taken shape in a model called Dodge Charger Daytona SRT.

The electric vehicle shows that it can be as attractive as its traditional-engine cousin, yet its heart is purely electric. The design becomes a tribute to the Charger Daytona of the 1960s, so we can find many retro details in it that take us back to that era.

The front offers a powerful look, and the headlights are concealed and do not stand out much. However, the daytime running lights accentuate the front end and give a well-defined and attractive light signature. In addition, the front features a spoiler called the R-Wing. This helps airflow over the hood and improves its aerodynamics.

On the front fenders are the backlit badges with the Banshee logo, which is the name of the propulsion system used by the model. Precisely about this, we know very little. There is no information about the electric drive system; we only know that it uses 800-volt technology.

There is also information revealing that it will have all-wheel drive and something surprising. The sound coming from the model will be that of a V8 engine, artificially produced so that the car’s image is the one we expect, including the powerful engine sound.

This sound can reach 126 decibels and will be based on a Hemi V8 engine. It will exit through the exhaust pipes, so the effect will be impressive.

As for the gearbox, it will simulate a manual transmission, so the driver will have the feeling of driving a car with an internal combustion engine. The sound and behavior at the wheel will be identical thanks to this gearbox, called eRupt.

It will also have four driving modes: Auto, Sport, Track and Drag. A button next to the steering wheel, PowerShot, gives the car extra power to make overtaking maneuvers with greater safety.
