Everything is set for the presentation of the new Porsche Panamera 2020

On 26 August the new Porsche Panamera 2020 will be unveiled, promising far more than an aesthetic facelift.

Record pace. This is how the new Porsche Panamera arrives, which, just before its official presentation, has broken the lap record around the Nürburgring for luxury saloons in its category. And it has done so by beating by more than 10 seconds the time set by the Porsche Panamera Turbo.

Obviously, achieving that requires keeping an ace up one’s sleeve. In the case of the new Panamera, Lars Kern, Porsche test driver, pointed to the operation of the new system for controlling body roll as key to its improved dynamic behaviour. Also the grip of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, developed specifically for the Panamera.

We will see how far Porsche goes this time with the most sporty high-end saloon on the market. Because there are other cars in this category that are better for those seeking maximum comfort and who will always be seated in the rear seats, such as an Audi A8. But none like the Panamera when it comes to sporty sensations and driving.

To watch the live presentation you will have to stay up late: it will be on 26 August at 3:00 pm.

Panamera or Taycan: the dilemma for future buyers

The Panamera 2020 is not a completely new model. It is an evolution of the Panamera, which is still on sale, the second generation, presented at the end of 2016.

The current range, which even included turbodiesel engines, is currently offered in Panamera 4 versions with 330 CV, Panamera 4S with 440 CV, Panamera GTS with 460 CV, Panamera Turbo with 550 CV, and two hybrid versions, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid with 460 CV and the Panamera Turbo S-E Hybrid with 680 CV. Prices start from 108,795 euros for the entry-level version, up to 194,820 euros for the most powerful one.

Considering that the Taycan range already offers the 4S version with 530 CV for 110,000 euros, the Turbo with 680 CV for 156,750 euros, and the Turbo S from 190,630 euros, one of the alternatives to the Panamera for Porsche customers is in the company’s own family.
