Ferrari 488 Pista: more than special

The new Ferrari 488 Pista unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show becomes the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history thanks to its 720 CV.
Derived from the competition models, the Ferrari 488 Pista unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show is not only the vehicle with the highest specific output in its class, with 185 CV per litre. With 720 CV of power, this 488 Pista is also the most powerful V8 Ferrari supercar ever made. For this reason and much more, this is no ordinary Ferrari. It is almost more special than any of the most spectacular prototypes at the Geneva Motor Show.

Ferrari 488 Pista 2018

Unveiled in Geneva, the Ferrari 488 Pista 2018 is the latest creation to leave Maranello from the V8 special series of the Cavallino brand. Following the 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale, comes the latest Ferrari designed to surpass them all in performance and technological equipment, taking its driving experience to another level.

Built from the competition models, the 488 GTE and the 488 Challenge, it embodies everything a Ferrari supercar should be: majestic styling and an exhilarating engine. A 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 720 CV and 770 Nm from just 3,000 rpm that propels this new special series Ferrari forward. It reaches 100 km/h in 2.85 seconds, 200 km/h in 7.6 seconds and has a top speed of 340 km/h. Race circuits, get ready!

To achieve such figures, the competition-derived components are numerous, including the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, carbon-ceramic brake discs and the sixth generation of the Side Slip Control System. Thus, the Ferrari 488 Pista retains the three driving modes E-Diff3, F1-Trac and SCM, together with the new Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer: a software-managed control system based on the pressure sent to the Ferrari brake calipers.

Styling and aerodynamics

Ferrari has introduced new styling features on the new Ferrari 488 Pista, always with aerodynamics in mind. Drawing on its competition experience, the new special-series Ferrari weighs 90 kilos less and produces 20% more aerodynamic downforce compared with the 488 GTB.

The aerodynamic improvement is achieved through an optimised rear wing, the use of carbon fibre and a new air channel in the front S-Duct, derived directly from Formula 1, which improves stability by channelling more air to the front diffusers.

As for the interior, the Ferrari 488 Pista is entirely minimalist. Most controls have been removed to achieve the greatest possible functionality, designed almost exclusively for driving performance. It features bucket sports seats with harnesses and Alcantara upholstery for the dashboard and seats, plus carbon fibre inserts on the door interiors and centre console.
