Ford Explorer 2023: the renewal of the blue oval giant is unveiled from China
The facelift of the large North American SUV has just debuted in China, with several styling updates and a huge 27-inch screen inside

The Ford Explorer (road test) is undoubtedly one of the most charismatic SUVs currently on sale, with a length of 5.06 metres and a width that allows it to seat up to seven people, a weight of around two and a half tonnes, and the option of a plug-in hybrid powertrain capable of producing 450 CV.
However, the American brand has chosen to unveil the renewal of this SUV in China, which may be a preview of the facelift that will reach our continent later on. It features a styling update with plenty of new elements, an interior with more technology, and a four-cylinder engine producing 276 CV.
The design of the renewed Explorer
Starting with the most eye-catching element, the new Explorer debuts a larger front grille with a more modern design thanks to the use of chrome elements. On either side of the new grille there are also changes, as there are new LED light units with a sleeker look, not forgetting its new bumper.

Turning to its side profile, the main stars of the renewal are the new 21-inch wheels, which together with the plastic cladding with a chrome insert protecting the lower part of the bodywork, highlight the ground clearance of this large SUV.
At the rear, Ford has chosen to fit new taillights with LED technology in a horizontal arrangement, which, in addition to giving a greater sense of width, lend it a more modern appearance, something in which the chrome trim on which the aforementioned lights sit and its new bumper also play a relevant role.

Greater technology
Inside, the renewed SUV can boast an advanced technology package, headed by a new touchscreen for the 27-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside the Head-Up Display.
In terms of design there are also new features, as its ventilation grilles have been redesigned and a new leather upholstery also debuts.

Under the bonnet, the new Explorer will feature a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine producing 276 and 425 Nm of maximum torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox and rear-wheel or all-wheel drive if equipped.
With all this, we can only wait to learn more details about the starting price in the Asian country and, most importantly, whether we will soon see a facelift similar to this Ford Explorer on the European market.
