Ford Focus RS Heritage Edition: the ultimate expression of radical performance for the UK

Ford has just announced the Focus RS Heritage Edition, a limited edition to bid farewell to the compact. Only 50 units will be built, and all of them will be for the UK.

Exclusivity is often associated with high-end vehicles, which offer uncommon features and a tuning well above average, something that happens with the Ford Focus RS. The American brand has been offering the sporty RS version since 2015, while the standard Focus has been around since 2010. Given its long production run, Ford has decided to bid farewell to this very special Focus, but not in just any way.

The British brand has just unveiled what it calls the Heritage Edition, a radical variant that uses the Ford Focus RS as its base, with the intention of pushing it to the extremes. This special edition offers a series of features that leave the world of hot hatchbacks and slightly venture into supercar territory, which gives this final Focus RS an even greater exclusivity.

Let’s recall that the Ford Focus RS comes as standard with a 2.2-litre four-cylinder engine capable of producing 350 CV of power and 470 Nm of torque. These figures allowed the most radical Focus to hit 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds, very impressive numbers for a compact. However, the engineers at Ford were not satisfied with the result, so they have made some fine-tuning adjustments to accommodate the RS Heritage Edition.

This limited edition does not show major changes in terms of styling, since the aerodynamic kit it offers remains faithful to the original RS, but it does stand out with an orange shade -called Deep Orange- that replaces the so-characteristic Nitro Blue that draws so much attention. On the mechanical side, there are a series of improvements, such as the power increase to 375 CV and the torque increase to 510 Nm. Without a doubt, these figures will considerably improve the performance of the RS, but the novelties don’t end here.

Although the Focus RS features an all-wheel drive system, the oval brand has decided to add a front limited-slip differential signed by Quaife, with the intention of offering a much safer, more dynamic and more fun driving experience aboard the sportiest Focus. However, and as expected, the exclusivity affects not only the figures of this RS Heritage, but also its production.

Ford has confirmed that only 50 units of the Focus RS Heritage Edition will be produced, all destined for the British market. This sad news leaves the rest of the world disappointed, since it will be impossible for us to get access to this vehicle, which will have a starting price in the UK of £39,895.
