Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015: All the New Releases We Will See

June closes with one of the most important motoring events on the automotive industry calendar, held in West Sussex, United Kingdom, which, in addition to a speed trial of the participating models, showcases the brands’ new releases

Goodwood 2014
June arrives, and it is when motoring enthusiasts have an unmissable date in the United Kingdom. This is the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015, which will begin on the 25th and will bring together in West Sussex the new releases of the most spectacular cars that will soon be on our roads. Every year it is a showcase for brands to show us what they have prepared, and it is interesting to see the new models they want us to get to know. That, in addition to the track exhibitions and the run that gives the festival its name, of course.

To start somehow, we will begin with Bentley, which will present the update of the Bentley Continental GT. This will feature a power increase reaching 582 CV, although the 6.0-litre W12 engine has been improved so that it has lower consumption than the previous version.

Citroën, for its part, will split its presence at Goodwood 2015 in two. One, the main brand, while the other will feature the recently launched independent brand DS. This second brand will present the recently updated DS3 and the new DS5, in addition to the concept car DS Divine, which will contain the innovations intended for new models DS.

The new releases from Ferrari will also climb the 1.6 miles of Goodwood, proving that its fame is in no way undeserved. The Ferrari 488 GTB and the Ferrari FXX will be the brand’s stars at the British festival. The first of these is the successor to the Ferrari 458, equipped with a 3.9-litre V8 engine, capable of delivering a power output of 660 CV and a top speed of 350 km/h.

The second model is a car costing 2.5 million euros, with a V12 engine producing a power output of 1,036 CV and combined with a hybrid system based on F1 technology.

The first-ever arrival of the Ford Mustang will be the main highlight of the brand with the blue oval, although the Ford Focus RS and possibly the Ford GT supercar will also be on show. Mazda, for its part, will put the emphasis of the brand on the MX-5, which has been redesigned this year.

McLaren is going to indulge itself with the hypercar P1 GTR. This model, adapted for track driving, costs 2.5 million euros and is powered by the 3.8-litre engine and the hybrid system fitted to the road model, which reduces weight and raises the power to 987 CV, a power figure that is not bad at all.

The Peugeot 308 GT is the French brand’s proposal for Goodwood, while Toyota will present all the models launched over the last few months, including the sports car FT-1. Vauxhall, the British brand of Opel, will have the new Viva city car at the Festival. But the VXR range will also be on display, starting with the Vauxhall Corsa VXR and reaching the top of the range with the GTS VXR8 of 586 CV.

The motto of the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year will be “Flaout and Feraless: Racing on the Edge“, which roughly means “Flat out and fearless: Racing on the limit“, which already gives a small indication that the participating models’ developments will try to surprise visitors.
