Honda Electric Cars Concepts SUV
Honda SUV e:concept, an electric concept from Beijing
Honda unveils its first electric SUV in the form of a concept car, which will serve as the basis for the production model, due to reach the market in a while.

While the major European and American motor shows are still recovering from the COVID-19 crisis, in China the Beijing Motor Show has already taken place. A show that has brought several new developments and will help the industry begin its recovery. And of course, at this event there is a great appetite for new vehicles that anticipate the launches of Asian brands. One of those cars arriving is the Honda SUV e:concept.
This concept car is set to become the brand’s first fully electric SUV and was presented this weekend. As a prototype, it does not represent the final design of the model that will reach the Chinese market, but it does anticipate the style and line it will follow. We also don’t know when the production version will arrive or whether it will be a car we can see in other markets.

One step beyond the Honda e
It is interesting to note that the Honda e, an electric vehicle with 222 kilometres of range, is already available on the international market, so it is understood that this Honda SUV e:concept is the evolution of what the manufacturer offers in that first electric vehicle.

There is a problem, and that is that although emphasis has been placed on its physical appearance, we don’t know any specifications of the new electric model. It is a heavy car, since it is an SUV, so the battery it carries is expected to comfortably exceed the capacity of the Honda e’s battery. This means that it will be significantly higher than the 33 kWh of that car.
Although we have not yet learned the capabilities of its motor, battery and range, we do know that it will be equipped with the omnidirectional ADAS system, which encompasses all the safety technologies the brand has. This includes a front sensor with a wider angle and a 360º radar that will help monitor the car’s surroundings more efficiently.
It will also feature the Honda Connect system, with an artificial intelligence interface, a new link to the mobile phone and the possibility of carrying out over-the-air software updates and updates via internet connection. We hope to have more information about this model and its production version soon. And, above all, whether it has any chance of reaching the international market.
