KIA EV2: the new ultra-compact SUV from the South Korean manufacturer with up to 448 km of range
With the new EV2, KIA expands access to electric mobility without giving up on excitement or practicality, making it a perfect vehicle for getting around urban environments.
At the Brussels Motor Show 2026, taking place these days in the Belgian capital, KIA has just officially unveiled the new EV2 in a world premiere. An ultra-compact B-segment SUV that expands the electric range of the South Korean manufacturer, positioning it as the most affordable model of them all.
Based on the E-GMP platform in its 400-volt version and measuring 4.06 metres long, 1.80 metres wide and 1.57 metres high, with a wheelbase of 2.57 metres, the new EV2 represents KIA’s commitment to bringing electric mobility within reach of a larger number of European drivers.

The EV2 will reach the European market with two battery options. The standard-range version with a 42.2 kWh capacity offers, according to the manufacturer, up to 317 km of WLTP range, while the extended-range battery of 61 kWh allows drivers to cover up to 448 km. Although the maximum DC charging power is still unknown, the South Korean manufacturer states that it is possible to increase the state of charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes.
At an AC charging point, on the other hand, it supports up to 11 kW as standard and, for the first time on a KIA model, an optional internal charger capable of handling up to 22 kW is also available. In this way, the standard battery can be recharged in 2 hours and 35 minutes, and the extended-range battery in 3 hours. This feature will allow drivers to take advantage of the growing public charging infrastructure across Europe located in car parks and shopping centres.
When can I have mine?
Production of the new EV2 will start in the first quarter of 2026 at the South Korean manufacturer’s plant in Žilina (Slovakia), beginning with the more affordable versions equipped with the standard battery pack. The rest will follow a few months later. This new ultra-compact SUV will be the second fully electric model built at this plant, whose assembly line already produces the EV4.

In terms of design, the EV2 faithfully follows KIA’s “Opposites United” philosophy, with sturdy lines, pronounced wheel arches, distinctive vertical daytime running lights and a bold SUV appearance. It will be available with 16- to 19-inch wheels, and the GT-Line version will add exclusive details such as body-coloured bumpers, black accents and a sportier look.
Small on the outside, big on the inside
Looking at the interior, it offers a sense of generous space relative to the vehicle’s dimensions, with a dashboard that extends towards the doors and a panoramic panel integrating 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and navigation, plus another 5.3-inch screen for the climate control.

Other notable features include bidirectional charging with support for V2L, which allows powering electronic devices, as well as V2G in the future; support for OTA updates, a digital key, on-demand services and an optional Harman/Kardon sound system. This new ultra-compact KIA SUV also comes with driver assistance systems normally found in higher segments, including highway assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitor, 360-degree camera and smart remote parking, among others.
