Lamborghini Miura P400S from 1969 and Countach LP400S from 1981: classic, yet still effective

One of the most beautiful cars ever produced by Lamborghini is the Miura. Within the historic Miura range we find the P400 with around 350 horsepower and the P400S, with around 370 horses, which was too much for what the car really was: it had no aerodynamic devices to help its stability at high speeds (280 km/h top speed).

Of the just under 800 examples built, we tracked down one from 1969 in perfect condition, maintained by a collector who is not afraid to take the car out for a long drive. But that’s not all: how about I also show you a Countach LP400S?

For some, the Countach is the greatest sports car in history, although many of us strongly disagree with that claim. It may well be one of the most brutal; driving it (or, I should say, piloting it) without traction control, without electronic stability or dual-clutch gearboxes, because all it had was an extremely heavy clutch and a classic ZF manual gearbox. It was not easy and demanded much greater concentration. It featured a V12 engine of 4 litres or 5.2 litres, the latter revealed in later revisions.

Both are impressive. The noise of the V12 and the heat from the engine behind your head the whole time are not for everyone, and in fact they can be maddening on long journeys, but the pair of videos waiting for you will give you a complete picture of two classic models from the brand and a taste of what it’s like to drive them.
